Figure roughly you get 150 xp/hour per vendor that you have in your shop. Work on getting Mgmt 1-4 first then you can have up to 6 Vendors giving XP.

Though it will take a tad over 22 days + server downtime doesn't count towards xp either... unless you get a lot of people visiting your shop...

50xp each time someone accesses a vendor...50xp each time someone pays an entrance fee

It's a back ground profession. Make sure you have something else to do why you make xp.

I took up armorsmith and made master on that before merchant, with no macros.

One of my mates got master merchant as his holo profession - if for example we (as his mates) started buying stuff from his vendors, over and over, then gave it back to him and he gave us our money back, could we concievably get him to master merchant pretty rapidly that way ?

The trick is to not think of it as a have to...think of it as a great way to make a huge load of money that will eventually get blown trying to master other holo professions. I took up bioengineer and got together with some doctor friends to sell some stuff. I'm making a small fortune on the meds and pets I'm selling and getting about 25k merchant xp per day. I finished up the management tree first to get more vendors and then put a 1 credit entry fee on my shop. So far, this is the end of my first week, I've made a little over 700k for doing almost nothing and I'm more than halfway done. If you go through and do it as just a holo profession, you're going to lose a ton of money and it's going to take you three weeks. If you jump into it fully, embrace the idea of being a merchant, advertise, have something to sell and just relax you can make a million credits off it and it'll only take a couple weeks...choice is yours though. I chose to embrace all the holo professions I've had and it makes them a lot more fun.

Well I think we're going to be starting our own PA and we'll need a shop or two, it's just that this guy doesn't particularly want to run them

Quick! Jump into the Sarlacc, it will be quicker, and less painfull.

Actually, if you play it right, and with the right frame of mind It can be a lot of fun. But, if you had been building other skills, I hope you weren't to attached because they are gonna HAVE to go bye-bye. You can build them up again later though (at least that's what I keep mumbleing to myself.)

think of it this way. ive been in Merchant now for 3-4 weeks and only 4/1/0/4..

you will get 150 xp an hour per vendor.

you will get 50xp every time someone pays your access fee every 15mins

you will get 50xp every time someone checks one of your vendors every 15mins

====

At most with 6 vendors (Management IV) you get 21.6k merchant xp every 24 hours...

-It will not be fast, so make sure your doing something else while it goes to work, plus it will cost you LOTS of money to maintain and advertise your vendors...
