I can see various pros and cons to unlimited auctions on the bazaar, but is there any reason we shouldn't be allowed to have unlimited auctions on our *own* vendors?

The reason why we don't have auctions on our vendors is because we can sell items for any credit amount using vendors, whereas on the bazaar, until the new bazaar cap is implemented, items can only be instantly sold at a max of 3k creds. Auctions are usually used as advertising tools for people that don't want to take up the Merchant profession or are used by Merchants that have yet to gain the ability to advertise planet-wide. That is the reason why vendors don't have the auction option.
If i am incorrect, could another fellow Merchant please help out in correcting.

Well, yeah, that's how the Auction option *is* used, because it's generally so useless and capped at 3000 on the bazaar.
But on a private vendor with no cap, an open auction could be pretty useful. Check out your Galaxy Trade Board - it's probably full of ad hoc auctions, right? Wouldn't it be better if you could do stuff like that in-game?
