Before the cries of Exploiter start, I have retained the Management Tree of Merchant and will continue to do so due to the fact that I can complete just about every other profession in the game {Combat Wise} and still keep my vendors legally. My question is with the vendor varieties themselves.
I have the Fancy version of the vendors and have not dropped the Hiring tree yet {in fact, I'm still 23k out from Hiring IV}.
My question is, am I able to continue using the Fancy version vendor? Or should I go ahead and change them out to the Bazaar vendor in fear of not being able to use them anymore?

The vendor revamp is sufficiently far away that I don't think you really need to worry about it. I'm sure that if the fancy vendors are going to implode in a future patch for people who don't have the skill boxes, we'll get plenty of warning - even SOE is going to have to realize how many CSR tickets they'd generate otherwise.
Whether the vendor revamp that prevents keeping vendors after dropping requisite skill boxes extends to Hiring as well is anyone's guess.

im pretty sure you will be able to dress your vendors then drop uniforms and they will keep what they have on and you just will not to change them. At least i hope Im a master DE, Artisan, Armorer, with 3-0-4-4 merchant atm.. i plan on going back to 4-3-0-4 after i get all my vendors dressed.. lets hope they stay the way they are, i mean you already bought them the uniforms who says you need to supply um another : )

Actually there should be no joking about this.
JeCy, what you are talking about is a pure exploit.
Before you go off about how you can never revert back to the original clothes; that the system doesn't allow it, just what kinda moral stand are you on, when you want to imediately drop the skill just after you use it for a permenant advantage? What kind of garbage is that?
You would have had a leg to stand on if you had clothed the vendor, left the points there for a couple of months then dropped the skill, but what you plan on doing is nothing more then petty thievery. I hope you think twice.

Ah, but consider this: the name of that tree is "Hiring". Doesn't it therefore imply that it pertains to the act of "hiring" vendors, rather than "managing" them? JeCy is keeping the "management" tree fair and square, but having already "hired" the vendors, has no further need of the "hiring" tree.
See, the "hiring" is the skill, and the "vendor" is the tool...

It is still problematic when you intentially do it like that. Maybe the clothes should decay and eventually revert back to some default outfit?

Ohhh I like that idea Doc.. But the decay would have to be slow enough as not to discourage people from bothering to dress their vendors up.. And, of course there really needs to be something else in hiring 4, that rewards those of us who keep our skills.. I would love to see hiring 4 a requirement for any IDability of vendors, but that still falls into the same line of get it done and then drop the skill.. Hmmmm...

I've been a longtime proponent of having ID customizations and clothes decay over time (verrry slowly) and eventually revert to a "disheveled" look (e.g. scruffy facial hair on men, frizzy split ends on women, stains and tears in clothing), so as to give IDs and tailors a bit more repeat business. It would be very natural to extend this to vendors.
See my full decay/UXP rant here:
