If I don't initialize a vendor will it poof as it should (or it gets disabled as ive been reading... hate lithium search engines), will it disappear, or will itstick around?

I mastered merchant and I want a vendor as a tribute to one of my friends that left the game... so if I don't initialize itwill it stick around? or do I have to initialize it and put a buttload of maintenance in it?
