Thread: Any other Master Merchants in the house? Where's the love?
Master merchant is pretty horrible. I would love to test the features but currently my 3 houses are bugged and say they are full.
I pull in about 200-300k worth of sales a dayat 1-10k a time.
Advertising 4 - Vendor prices are reduced to 0 Maintence, it's only deducting a very very very small amount if anything.
Hiring 4 - Works on some NPC Vendors but it usually clips with their old clothing. This is a horrible skill, currently it eats up the clothes. The whole, "Race Restriction" doesn't apply. I put gloves on a race that couldn't wear gloves and it clipped so bad that it looked like somethign was growing out of his hands. It should check to see if the vendor can wear before it places it on the NPC.
Vendor Fees 4 -Reduced fees are pretty weak, I get 20 rate on Factories, 24 rate on Wind harvester, 8 rateon generic small, 6 rate on small tatooine, and 16 rate on Medium tatooine. I think I used to pay 1000 a day for medium and now it's down to like 700. Pretty pointless when you're making the kind of money you're supposed to at that lvl.
Ofcourse Ad 3-2-1 are broken and only work some times.
Ad 2 has that "Try something less obscene" when you put punctuation in your setences.
Ad 3 is pretty good but if you register more than one vendor the names block each other. I've seen this on the map many times.
Reduced Bazaar fees is pointless, 20 creds to list isn't exactly breaking the bank.
-Need more perks for Master Merchant-
How about reduced traveling fees or like frequent flyer miles. This won't help much but that would be an interesting addition.
No bank charge for a bank tip. 5% is a ton when you're transfering a couple 100k.
Increased Max Items in houses.
IncreasedStructure lots! (15 max would be nice)
Anything else?
First Master Merchant on Kauri here...
Yes the only thing i like about being master merchant is to be unique. I m still trying to find out what other advantages you get except a new vendor a a new kind of bot vendor. Not much compared to the 25% bonuses given to master ws weapons which gives them a REAL advantage against competition.
I agree with some of your ideas i already brought on those forums. Allow masters to get rid of the 5% bank fee, to be placed first inthe bazaar listing, to be allowed more lots, to really decrease SIGNIFICANTLY structures and vendors costs, to be able to transfer an item from one vendor to another without having to travel, reduce transport costs, get special house signs for masters, allow them to sell items on the bazaar above price limit and to send items to a specific town bazaar so that the customer can pick it up easily.
As SWG took pretty much from Ultima Online (some devs worked for UO), why not taking the "gating" idea from UO. A master merchant would be able to beam him up (scotty!) from his current location to any of the marked locations he did on the planet. This would save him lots of time running from one place to another, and give him a REAL advantage against crafters. Then this would justify that a crafter can make 1000% average profit as he has no facility to travel, while a merchant can only make 30% profit in the best cases (has to compete with crafters), but could reach a much wider clientele.
May be also allow master merchants a prioritary building area around cities, so that their vendors get more easily accessible than others...
You are welcome to add ideas...but for the moment, it s just worth the "i m a unique master merchant" title over the head.
Master Merchants should be able to buy anything, from any public bazaar in their galaxy, from their vendor.
Of course, that won't be much of a perk when they put player cities in, with their own bazaar terminals.
I'm less than one box from master. I'd have been there long ago, but my vendors decided to stop giving me hourly xp. ![]()
I hear ya on the defects in the class. IMO the only worthwhile boxes are Advertising III (less so now that every two-bit artisan out there seems to be going for it), and maybe Eff IV and the Management line. I'm only going this far because I've been a merchant (or tried to be) in every MMOG out there, and I want to finally have that "Master Merchant" title over my head.
Plus a hope that maybe, someday, they'll fix the class and we'll actually be useful.
Woot may be i spoke too fast here...it looks like we dont even get a 7th vendor with the Master Title. I just tried to create a 7th one to see how the bot looked like....and it says i already have max number.
LOL Not even an additional vendor!!!
Btw reduced bazaar fees (2 boxes in efficiency tree!!!) are all the most useless that i use the stockroom to let the main vending room readable for customers (i wont put 20 times the same item for sale). Items in the stockroom count against the number of items you can sell in the bazaar. So i just CAN NOT use the bazaar, and i have 2 boxes dovoted to reduce a 20cr fee that i will never pay.
I thought on the description of the master merchant, something like "the master mechant has most vendors" was written. I had 6 vendors before being master mechant, i still can only put 6 vendors being master.
What advantage does master merchant give us against other merchants. Master WS, or AS, get a 25% bonus of the effectiveness of their weapons, which gives them a HUGE advantage against competition....
Pure merchants are already in direct competition with crafters, MASTER PURE MERCHANT still is in direct unfair competition with crafters (unfair as he can loose money, they cant, and his margins are 30 times lower), but he is still in competition with other merchants and isnt given any cost related or visibility advantage against his lower skilled competitors....
Can any developer give us some feedback on how they plan to make master merchant a viable goal, except for having a rare title over the head
btw, i didnt notice any social recognition for this title...people naturally tend to congratulate ws and as for their title, as they know they can provide them with the best items in game, the master merchant title leaves us as invisible as we were before.
