Thread: A Merchant's Music for Shop skill
When i go learn from the Merchant trainer in bestine, i always like listening to his little tune he has playing in his room.
And it is the only room i have seen that is always accompanied by music. Is this forshadowing for what a merchant may be able to do for his shop in the future? or just put into his room for fun
Yes! That would be a great skill, and shouldn't be difficult for the Dev's to implement. My only suggestion is to put it under something other than "Advertising" - since Advertising III is a valuable skill (and, sinceI'd rather "advertising"be used for an "advertise in town" skill, like the yellow pages or "marketing flyers" idea that have been posted in other messages.)
I'd say put it under "Hiring" with a final song under Master Merchant - since I can't see anything in that tree (except maybe the currently broken Corporate Image) that makes that tree worth spending my skill points on. (I've never had someone buy more because I have Mon Calamarian vendors... no one [honestly] says "I was going to buy that high quality rifle at another store, but they only have a bulky vendor." )
Also, maybe if the new vendor types had different buyer interfaces or abilities (anyone who reads this forum already knows and lovesthe "resource slider" idea - wherea merchantcan put in 10k of Fiberplast and designate a "price per unit" then buyers could buy 1 unit or 1000) ... if hiring skills activated this slider - such that the business III bulkyvendordoesn't have this ability- it wouldgive a businessadvantage to merchants with hiring skills.Another example is to allowmerchants with high hiring skills to set their merchants to say (and Master Mechant able to email a "thank you for shopping at my store" + waypoint)message on sale.This would help "pull-in"business. (The "saying" would be great. If my vendor said "Thank you, ..PlayerName.., for buying ..a Muffled Muzzle of Firing..." then anyone within the hearing range would know 1. I have a shop and PlayerName is in it, and 2. we sell muzzles. )

For the love of God, think of what you're saying.... MUZAK?!?!?!?!
<smirks>
Heh - I'm my own Muzak.
My Merchant is also working on master musician. Customers are free to listen and heal while they browse thru the vendors.
People really seem to like it.
