Merchant XP (comes in lumps, sometimes broken):
- 150 XP per hour per vendor
- 50 XP per view of vendor by person per hour or so
- 50 XP per visitor if you charge an Entry Fee
- NO XP for purchases ... none ... zip
It has been known to stop giving the overtime xp.

I'm assuming your a 0000 merchant. Each of the first tier skill boxes cost 10k. Therefore your Merchant exp cap would be 2x that, or 20k. If you purchase a tier 1 skill, your cap will then go up to 40k.
I got burned with this is a way. I had hiring 1, management 1, and 40k mexp. I wanted to sell off these skills and buy advertising 2. (running out of skill points). So I sold off hiring 1 and management 1, expecting to be able to buy advertising 2 for 30k (10k+20k). It wasn't until after I sold those skills that I realized I lowered my merchant exp cap back to 20k. So I lost 20k merchant exp.
This is bull**** what do you mean we don't get any xp from selling stuff. Isn't that what being a merchant is all about?
I find it very strange myself that selling things at my vendor gives me no experience.
I am very new to the merchant line, please tell me if I am doing it wrong.
Once I found thatonly having Vendors ( notvendors being used ) gives you the mostXP I have been running straight up the Managment line ( aditional vendors )and storing unused vendors in the basement for experience only ( for now ) Is this an error?
Ok I'm pretty sure I know why you don't get XP when you sell items out of your Vendor... It would create an exploit. You could just add an item to your vendor and buy it yourself (or have a friend buy it) over and over...This would become an exploit. I think thats the reason...

Getting XP for sells is an Exploit waiting to happen. Just put stuff on your vendor for 1 cr and have friends buy them. And if they do a 10c = 1 xp put stuff on there for 100k then have your friend buy item and you give the money back and repeat .Thats why you get no exp for it.
You don't need individual sales xp (aside from the fact it has HUGE abuse potential).
As it stands, if you advance in the merchant line, and keep your maximum allowed vendors out at all times, you can advance fairly quickly.
And don't hide them in the basement, bring 'em out and USE them!
If you have a cafe, place one next to a table, call him/her/it Waitress. Or one near the door named Hostess.
When Ad-Barking works properly, you can even add custom messages to these vendors. Your Hostess could say, for example, "Welcome to my shop, feel free to browse and email me with any questions!"
Or your Waitress could say "Something you want not in stock? Place an order by email!"
The sky's the limit. And just because the additional vendors aren't really selling anything, doesn't mean they can't still "work" for you! ![]()
