Someone posted in another thread that items in the Stock Room are deleted after seven days. Is that true?

Sir, it's quite possible that this game is not entirely stable.

OK, so I go on a two-week vacation.

During that time, all of the items I have on sale get auto-cancelled and moved to the stock-room because we aren't allowed to have an item for sale for more than seven days. Another seven days go by and all those items are deleted from the game because we aren't allowed to leave things in the stock room, when we aren't even the ones who PUT them there in the first place?

HEY HOLO! WHO THE **edit** MAKES THESE DESIGN DECISIONS?

Dont leave for weeks without battening down the hatches on your vendors.

When it comes time for me to disappear for a while ... I will let my inventory wear down a bit ... pull inventory ... pay up tons of maintenance on shop, etc ...and change my sign to read "On Vacation ... be back Nov 1" ... and lock my door to my shop.

Problem solved I think

No its not 7 days, its 7 sales days and 72 hours.......

I recently went on a 2 week vacation. Before I went, I filled up my vendors with extra Armor, powerups and Personal Shield generators. I then spent approx 60k on vendor maintenance for the 15 days that I was going to be away.

So I come back 2 weeks later to over 100 emails saying items had not been sold... ok not a big deal... must have been over 200 items on those vendors. I get to my shop expecting to find 100 items in my stockroom. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

So I open a CSR ticket. To ask for help. Only to get the glib answer that its a design feature. Apparently items that dont sell in 7 days are put into the stockroom of your vendor, but get this (its a biggie!) they are AUTOMATICALLY DELETED AFTER 72 HOURS!!

Apparently to stop people using their vendors for extra storage. Ok I understand this 21 days maybe, or 14 days at a push, but 72 hours is a joke.

I lost about 150k worth of stock.

So much for casual gamers being merchants, go on a 2 week vacation, hell, 10 day vacation and lose everything on your vendor. Afterall how many people actually take 2 week vacations ?

Perhaps some sort of check to see if you've been in game should be applied before deleting the items... buyt as we know SWG is cursed with a badly designed database, and SOE take every opportunity to wipe anyitems they can.

I hope our Correspondant takes this up as an issue.

72 hours? Yeah, that would seem to tally pretty well with my experience. I left for vacation with a bunch of stuff on my vendor (loaded at various times I didn't keep explicit track of over the previous week), and came back exactly 7 days later. About 75-80% of my previous stock was in the stockroom, with the rest vanished.

Well, I'm officially gonna start shifting my Master Merchant and crafting skills into combat skills, since SOE is so damned adamant that merchants should have to suffer from the most arbitary, restricted, and just plain SILLY design decisions.

See ya on the Creature Handler and Commando zerg-fest boards.
