I bought a new house and want to move my vendor with over 150 items...do i just pick him up then plop him down in the new house? i dont want to lose my stuff so just want to be sure.

Nope, you can't move the vendor once he's been initialized. The only way to accomplish what you want to do is to empty the vendor manually and dump your items in the new vendor.
