Thread: This BOOK KEEPING IS MAKING ME THIRSTY!!!
Ok, how about a bookeepingdatapad available to master merchants? Helps them keep track of things with entries for items, prices, suppliers, customer lists, perhaps even customizable macros for those of us who sell on consignment ... i.e. if I get a certain percentage of credits from items sold, it automatically computes that for me. It could also include a listing of stock by item, so we can order more supplies from the crafters quickly and easily.
The dev's say they want the economy to be player run ... they want crafted items to be more valuable than loot drops, and they want crafters to use merchants as their main outlet. I am fully supportive of this, and now that my business is successful, I see that this can be a reality .... but how about making this a little less tedious?
I like to immerse myself in this game when i play ... I play with the lights off, and the sound in my headphones cranked ... it really breaks the mood when i have to disconnect myself from this high tech, jacked in fantasy to resort to paper and pencil (who am i? Gallileo?)
But what would be even cooler is if there was a way we could track business expenditures and income on the same datapad ... I would like to see, on one screen, how much it costs me to make 1 crate of muon, and how much I can sell it for ( either individually, or by the crate). I certainly do this now, but the problem is that resources are a very fluid market ... I never pay the same price for 1K of berries ... It would be nice if for each crate of say, Muon Gold, I could put in how much the water, radioactive and metal cost, and then get a brakedown on how much each crate/individual charge cost me to make .... that way I could make a decision on the profit margin I think I can get (based on me cross referencing this datapad with current prices of similar items on the bazaar ... ANOTHER PERK PERHAPS FOR THE MASTER MERCHANT)
Anyway, would like to get a feeling from the community, now only as to whether they think this would work, but if they think this idea is a disaster, do they have another idea to help make the accounting aspect of this game more an ingame reality than a paper-and-pencil add on.
All it'd have to be is .txt files in your SWG directory that are able to be read and displayed within SWG... cant be TOO hard.
