Thread: DEVS:SAVE US FROM THE CONSUMERS!
Devs, please lend a hand here
no matter what method i use for notifying, no matter how many times i tell people the same thing over and over...
the majority of the people STILL do not use/notice that little "next" button when browsing. Apparently most people are not able to grasp the concept of multiple pages on a vendor and so i CONSTANTLY receive tells from people telling me i am out of stock on something.
I keep a well stocked weapon vendor. 10 of each item. thats approx 200-225 weapons.
the other thing you can fix while you are at it is the horrible way that items are listed on vendors. please please PLEASE have them listed alphabetically NO MATTER how many items are on the vendor..
for example: instead of having a-z listed on the first page, then the subsequent pages as well sorted by the date they were added to the vendor..
how about a-k on page 1, l-r page 2, s-z page 3.
i put 10 DX2 pistols on a vendor and sell 8. the next day i restock and add 8 more...that go to page THREE of my vendor. so the average buyer comes in and then complains that i only have 2 DX2s on my vendor because they are incapable of looking through more than one page.
PLEASE for my sanitys sake do something about this....
I fully agree!!
I found that I need to have 5 different vendors in my shop to get folks to find stuff (I'm a tailor with 500 items in stock).
People would constantly ask "can you make me X" and I know full well there is one on the vendor. And once I went to the "never more than 100 items on a vendor" scheme, those questions went away.
I also found it a thousand times easier to manage my inventory since I could instantly see how many Uniform Boots I had rather than tracking them across 3 screens.
One alternative would be to let the number of items seen at a time be more than 100.
I submitted this as a bug two months ago... nothing of course...
No, most people are not observant enough to see that button (myself included, I had to be told the first time :smileytongue
.
The whole vendor GUI need to be redesigned period.
At least in my case as a tailor, if people would just use the categories to look for things, that would help lots. But alas, most peopleignore all the buttons on the side and just go with the default view.
All they need to do is move the next button to a more prominent place immediately below the lowest product in the listand it would solve most instances of this problem.
The best workaround is to set up multiple vendors, but we should have a better fix from the design side. Merchants are gimped up enough already. Done make me waste my precious vendors because of bad design.
Originally, the bazaar/vendor design would present *all* items in the selected category on one page, regardless of how many items there were. This was apparently unworkable in practice, so they switched to the current "multiple page" setup. And thus, a UI that was perfectly adequate for the original design leaves a lot to be desired in the current design.
I agree, the Next Items button needs to stand out more. Hehe, I played this game for nearly two months before I ever even noticed it myself.

I agree there, the problem exists both on vendors and the bazzar. Sort needs to sort the whole listing, not the page. I had a customer have trouble bechase she sorted and saw "Laser Rifle", but not the one I described, because it stayedon page 2 of the listing. Fortunately I was in the shop, or i'd have lost a sale.
And I have this problem as a consumer. Go to the bazzar, and doa galaxy wide search for inorganic minerals. If I sort by name all the "Iron" should be grouped, not spread out over a dozen pages.
exactly right. all items should be listed alpha instead of by date added. this is a simple matter to address...i had 3 people just today tell me i was out of something that i had 6, 8, and 13 of on the 2nd page of my vendor..
and i shouldnt HAVE to put up 4 extra vendors to compensate for 1) crappy coding 2) crappy UI. fix the issue, dont give us a workaround.
