Thread: Limited Skill Points for Merchant, How best to use them?

OK...so basically here is my situation. I've taken my crafter Master Chef, Master Architect, Master Artisan, Novice Merchant....

That leaves me with 41 skill points to play with in Merchant.

My priorities are:

Planetary Map Registration

# of Items on Vendor

# of Vendors (really I only need 5 or 6 but I am seeing xxx4 as essential so its a moot point)

The ability to clothe vendors and have a wide selection of NPC races is cool...but I think it kinda sits at the bottom of the list.

The efficiency line seems okay, and there is a small increase in items...does the efficiency make a huge difference in maintenance cost?

My basic thought was to go: 3404

Is this a logical analysis and decision? Advice from the more experienced merchants than myself would be greatly appreciated.

I think 3404 is good. That gets you the map, merchant tents (the other efficiency boxes are nice, especially if you have harvesters and factories, but not critical), and the most vendors and items you can get without mastering the profession. You still have a nice variety of NPCs for your vendors, though it takes time to get the one you want. In my case, I try to use only Mon Calamarian vendors (to match my merchant character) and so it took time until I went up the hiring tree.

Currently, I'm getting Hiring before Management just so I can have all the options available to me when I add my vendors. Once I have the vendors I think I'll need for the foreseeable future, I can drop hiring when I start another crafting profession (I really want to do Droid Engineer but won't waste the time until they fix at least the worst of the bugs).

It sounds like you have a pretty good plan. Personally, I'd probably go 0-0-4-4 merchant first, and place all the ugly vendors I wanted and dress them in something other than pink and orange. If you wanted a merchant tent, then you might need 0-4-0-0 first to place the tent, then 0-0-4-4 to place all the ugly vendors in it. Then I'd change to 4-3-0-4 for my long term template. But that's just me. I'd rather have the spambots than a few extra credits on maintenance. The template you're going for sounds pretty good too though...

these were my thoughts... get the hiring to put them down and dress them up, then change, merchant exp is easy to get.. and most people odn't replace their vendors often as far as i know
