Whenever I have to resupplymy resourcevendors I have to go through endless drudgery splitting up resource stacks into smaller stacks.
I like to provide a variety of sizes of resource stacks to my customers so all can afford them.
A typical division of a 100K stack for me would be:
10 stacks of 3K each
10 stacks of 3K each
7 stacks of 10K each
This means using the "Split" interface 17 seperate times, just to divide up a single 100K stack.
Creating all these stacks, one at a time, using the "Split" dialog box, is not what I would call a good use of my limited hobby time.
The existing "Split" dialog box asks you to divide one stack into 2 stacks, and asks you to define the size of each stack.
I would prefer a "Split" dialog box that would look like this:
Number of stacks: ________
Number of stacks: ________
Size per stack: ________
If I select the "Split" option on the radial menu of a 100K resource stack, and then gave "10" as the number of stacks, and "3000" as the size per stack, 10 new stacks of 3K each would be created, and the original resource stack would be reduced in size from 100K to 70K.
If I select the "Split" option on the radial menu of a 100K resource stack, and then gave "10" as the number of stacks, and "3000" as the size per stack, 10 new stacks of 3K each would be created, and the original resource stack would be reduced in size from 100K to 70K.
The operation would abort if your inventory had no room for the new stacks, or if number * size was greater than the original stack.
Please let me know what you think of this idea, and if you agree that the existing "Split" dialog box is too slow and tedious.
Also, how could a suggested change in "Split" procedures be communicated to the Devs?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Splitinterface is horrible, but you're approaching the problem from the wrong end.
It would be as easy (from a programmer's standpoint) and better (from a merchant's standpoint) if we could just put up the full stack (or crate) for sale and the buyer could select how much they wanted to buy at purchase time. Then you wouldn't have to split anything up and customer's can get exactly the amount they want.
A side benefit is that when 30 days is reached, a single stack (or crate) comes into the storeroom, instead of multiple smaller stacks that didn't sell.
The only thing this system doesn't support is price breaks for large quantity purchases. I can live with that drawback if it simplifies stocking (and opens up sales to more small-time customers who don't want to buy int the quantities I am selling in).
