>
> "It is with sad heart that I speak to you now.
>
> I regret to have to inform you of the necessity to close EPC branches located at the Phoenix Mall, Coronet, the StarWares Mall, Bestine and the Valley ofDarkness Mall, Dantooine.
>
> The recent opening of the SpaceLanes by the Empire have caused a massive reduction in personnel available for the production of power. Many, if not nearly all personnel, have sought more lucrative contracts than we can offer. Many have been reassigned to the production of Starships. Our subcontractors also are not producing any materials at this time for the same reasons.
>
> We at EPC feel it is not proper to continue to maintain inadequately stocked branches, nor is it good for the reputation of the malls we reside in nor in the confidence our customers have entrusted us with.
>
> In light of which, EPC Corporate will be only operating it's headquarters office in Xanadu Bay, Naboo. Our affiliate operationwhich served Talus and Dantooine has also consolidated to the Talus office only.

I'm in the power business. Or more accurately, I should say I was.

JtL has destroyed my business model and I've been forced to close 3 out of 5 branches of my corporation.

The need for steel in such vast quantities for shipwright, has 'stolen' my employees from me in favor of harvesting steel which commands a much greater price. I can't blame them. I also used to buy power from other power brokers.. and they have also stopped producing.

Now before you one star me, and say to adapt... Well, i have.. I've pretty much left the power business in favor of shipwright. 100M in profit later so I don't think i'll be going back to power. The business model still works.. just applying it to shipwright now!

I feel your pain. I'm trying to dump large quantities of organics and other resources (which I'm trying to dump for vendor space)from one of my vendors. Hell, my tailor stuff doesn't sell either and I'm the cheapest on my server. People seem to only want anything to do with JTL now. People come to the mall I set up for my guild to buy ships and ship parts. I get the odd person looks at my resource vendor for steel and when they can't find it, they leave.

I seriously believe JTL has damaged all sales, except those for shipwrights. I'm sure it will come back eventually.I watch my bank account get smaller and smaller as I buy things I need for myself. I honestly don't think I have sold a piece of clothing in a week. Pretty sad.

I'm sure business will pick up eventually. I'm sure a combat revamp or something might make a change in what people need to fight and people will start shopping more. Also, people will eventually become bored with space. In the meantime, I think I'm gonna finally do some space missions. I've had JTL since day 1 and haven't been up yet.

As a resource merchant, it's been fascinating to see the disruption brought on by JTL. Here is what I am seeing:

1) Chef and doctor resource sales are down 50%. Unfortunately, that means my stockpile is growing.

2) Steel sales are through the roof. I can't keep steel in stock more than a day. Furthermore, if I scour a planet for bulk steel on vendors, I may come up with 100K to 300K at most (except for the oocasional specialized steel at 20 cpu or more). So essentially nobody has any for sale.

3) To a lesser degree, fiberplast, aluminum, copper, and ore sales have been stronger. In fact, my inorganic stock has dropped by several million units despite the fact that I have purchased many more million units from other vendors. I suspect that I have sold 10 to 15 million units of inorganics in 2 weeks.

4) Power is hard to find. As a result, power I had on my vendor for 2.5 to 3.5 cpu (a high price on Scylla) has now all sold.

5) Specialized JTLS resources continue to sell well at 8 to 10 cpu, though this is slowing. I'm not sure if component sales are slowing or i people have figured out that these resources are pretty easy to harvest yourself (though with shifting starting on these, that may change). Other than the steel, I suspect I will have to soon drop the price of these resources to the 6 to 8 cpu range. Evenetually, I expect these to fall in the price range of all my other resources (4 to 9 cpu for quality stuff), but it hasn't happened yet.

I am not changing my core business model. I will still be an organics first vendor. The only change for me right now is that I will only harvest an organic if it's better than what I currently have for sale (normally I will harvest any organicthat is "very good", even if I have better). It also looks like I might have to place a couple of fusions to produce power (rather than crafting radioactives) for the first time in months.

What this all means to everyone else is that there is an opportunity to make lots of money right now in either power or steel. Someone will fill the void soon enough.

I have noticed that my arch stuff has increased in sales. Harvestors, factories, houses, etc etc. People are rushing to harvest and stockpile.

Other sales have dropped off considerably.

Yup. M Tailor and M Merchant on my main on Intrepid and sales are way down from just prior to JtL -- so I've had more free time to spend on my alt chars on Gorath and selling resources is suddenly far more lucrative than it was. I am making credits faster than I can spend them. I ain't seen so many ores with 900+ stats in like.... ever!

Well, I have 73K of radioactive, and I'm not selling any of it. Why? Missile weaponsneed OQ & PE, and the stuff I have now has over 900 in each. No way I'm going to sell that for 2-3 cpu as power when I can make missiles that have maximum butt-kickage.

If you're hard up for power to sell, you might want to look into finding somebody to harvest wind or solar. Any good radioactive now is going to go into shipwright.

Finding a BER 13 Mineral Harvestor on Valcyn right now is near impossible. Kinda unfortunate for me as I just started up a second character and need to get him supplied w/some good harvestors. (As a side note, I find it kinda funny that this brand new char is already run BER 13 heavies. Heck, my main didn't start using them until about a month ago... been running on personals (and a medium or two long ago) for darned near a year.

Some markets have definately gone up while others have gone down. My droids are selling quite well putting my bank account over 1 million credits for the first time ever (not counting donations I used to buy stockpiles of resources that I haven't even dipped into yet).

My net worth is definately the highest it's ever been .

PS. This "all sales shifting to the next best thing" is really common. It's a little exaggerated in this instance because the next big thing is also the biggest thing to ever hit SWG, but I'm sure it will reign in before too much longer. I'd predict a month, possibly two and things should be "normal."

The first week after JTL my weapons sales tanked badly. Yesterday thought my sales rebounded. I sold 30 or so grind qualily starter weapons. Grenade sales for FS exp had dried up as well, but now the cases are flying off the vendor.

One unexpected result of JTL was fewer people to collect resources like meat. My friend and I have been making a killing collecting meat this week. I have now made more money collecting meat than I have selling grenades.

Eventually the economy will settle down. Fortunes will be made and lost in the meantime though.

Mineral and Chem harvs sold out within about 2 days of JtL release (once people figured out how much they needed for SW).

Inorganics, especially FP and Inter Petrochem, sales are up. What few Minerals I offer for sale are up.

Strange to hear that power vendors are losing business...I have a hard time keeping enough power around to fuel my farms as wel as supply my SW (never sell power).

Organic sales seem steady...most of those are usually the same "Regulars" anyway.

I know my guild Doc/CM is still busy as ever...so maybe it just depends on location.

We're Dant-based, so there's still always plenty fo folks in the Ground game there...

I've seen a dropoff in my overall sales, but nothing crippling. There are still a lot of people out there without JTL that need weapons. And once they're done grinding out pilot, they'll be coming back to the ground game some as well; I'm not terribly worried. The combat revamp will be a huge driver for weapon, armor, food, etc. sales as well, as everything changes.

I was fortunate to find enough cheap steel to keep up my grenade production level despite JTL sucking up steel like it's nobody's business. I figure in a few more weeks things will settle out more evenly.

As an aside, expect the same kind of rush when the combat upgrade goes live, but not on resources... on crafted goods.
