I've noticed today you can now register vendors as 'Ship' catagory, this doesnt not yet have a section on the Planetary Map and as far as I can tell doesnt work on the overhead map either, anyone else tried it?

There is a patch note on Test Center indicating that this is fixed. I think the current schedule is for those changes to appear on live servers tomorrow. That of course is subject to change.

is this the 11.2 publish, I've heard rumurs that its tomorrow but couldnt find any solid evidence on the forum (checked a few days ago so if something was posted recently I havent seen it yet)

Tomorrow is my understanding. I don't know if they have changed it. I haven't heard there are any serious issues with it which usually means that it will go off on time
