I'm sure its in this forum somewhere but I don't really feel like looking through the whole thing. Could somebody tell me the syntax to setting the colors on your house and items after you craft them? Thanks in advance.

use \#xxxxxx in text lines every time you want to change color. If you use anything but white and don't use \#ffffff at the end of the text line, the rest of the item description will be in that non-white color. Look at the 1.3 faq above.

That worked on my house name, but doesn't appear to be the same for my items. Is there something you need to do differently to change the color of the title on items you craft?

Same method as for your signs. Example of something I made last night:

\#ffff00Corellia Blossoms\#ffffff

That line I used to make small potted plants (actually used a more orange than yellow code at begininning, but can't remember which now). The only real limiting factor is the amount of characters you can use making items, not a lot. If you were not getting colored text for items you were making, you were likely doing something wrong.
