Only ways that I know of are:

-If someone checks your vendor (doesn't have to buy anything)

or

-If someone pays an access fee to get into your house/shop.

Any other ways that I don't know of?

Is there a quicker way to get it? I'm patient but I was just wondering because waiting around just to get another vendor and some planetary adverts is a little less cool.

Oh yeah if you're on Bria visit Neko's Spiceworld in Mandalore on Dantooine, right beside the Medical Center

From Draznar's Merchant Guide

Merchant XP (Sometimes comes in lumps):

150 XP per hour per vendor [Received in lumps whne vender Exists*] (Can place first at Bus 3)
50 XP per view of vendors by person [Must click refresh or a category. Veiwing multiple vendors does not increase] (Can get every 10 minutes)
50 XP per visitor per house for Entry Fee [Can be on multiple houses that you own] (Can place at house terminal at Bus 1)
NO XP for purchases/bazaar ... none ... zip ... nada
Suggestion: Go up management first to get per vendor xp. Then Adv 3 for planetary map.
*Just like harvesters, vendors only exist when a player can see it. When there are no players arround the vendor drops from the servers memory. When another player comes into the house the vendor will load again, experience over time will be updated, and the vendor will "exist" till it unloads again.

There are no other ways to gain XP. All XP for merchant is gained through the actions of other people. You cannot grind it.

I have read many guides on how to become a vendor, and have set up my vendors in my public house with an access fee of 1 cred. I have gained 150 xp for it., BUT I have yet to get anymore xp in addition to that. Anyone know what I could be doing wrong?

Hello,

I was wondering if someone can explain to me how Merchant XP works.

How do you get XP? (is it from selling stuff, or just placing it on the bazzar, or both)

And If i was to work my way up to Management 3 so i can place enough Vendors in my House, and then give up the skill to work on Advertisment 3 so i can advertise them on the Map, (i have limited Skill points cause im working on Master Armorsmith/Master Pikeman) do i loose the vendors i set up when i give up the skills?

And do i loose my advertisement on the Map if i give up Advertising 3?

thank you very much for the help

They first time i went after merchant i did itby selling items on the bazaar, everytime someone bought something I received xxx amount of xp. Teh second time i did it by setting up venodrs in my house, always setting up a new one as i got the skill...you must have maint in a vendor to get xp from it, it would appear. Doing this i got xp rather quickly, whether anyone looked at them or not.

Now, from what i can gather, if you give up vendor skills you will eventually loose that vendor, and I know for a fact that if you give up the skill to advertise on the map, you will not be on it.

Putting vendors is ur shop gives xp,people opening ur vendors gives xp,selling stuffgives xp(duh),ur vendors talking gives xp,i've even got xp for having my vendor open then opening up the craft menu but i'm sure it was a bug(try it anyway tho,i always get enough for the next skill when that happens...then again i do only have 1/0/0/0...but it gives twice what i need for one skill)

I'm not sure this info is correct -- can someone confirm?

I believe the only 3 ways to generate Merchant XP are:

- having a vendor (150 xp per hour)

- having someone pay the access fee on your vendor building (50 xp each time)

- having someone use your vendor -- no purchase necessary (50 xp per person per 10 minutes)

I don't think selling things on the bazaar gives you XP, nor doesyour vendor talking. You evenhave to make a sale to get XP -- someone just has to browse your vendor. You do get the xp in lumps, which may have happened at the same time you opened your crafting tool, but it was just a coincidence. You don't receive Merchant XP from crafting.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't want new merchants to rely onincorrect information.

There's a GREAT sticky at the top of the forum that explains the Merchant profession very clearly and in a detailed way.

Well, I'm better than dirt! Well, most kinds of dirt.
I mean, not that fancy store-bought dirt.
That stuff's loaded with nutrients. I can't compete with that stuff.

Well I had the option of highjacking this thread, or making a new one. Sorry.

Easy quick merchant xp question .. what does it cap?
