In Beta, I had a vision...
Beevo's Custom Gun Rack and Tuna Shack
I had dreams of a store with crafted displays of my wares, of a counter with an employee whose name didn't start with Vendor:, of a building that looked like a store, not a store that looked like a house or a tent.
In my dream, I envisioned loyal customers stopping by for a Tuna Melt and a Blaster upgrade while we talked about the weather. I saw new customers perusing my racks of custom firepower while chewing on a Tuna Suprise.
I would dream of conversations with my suppliers, ordering another crate of Ball's O' Tuna and 1000units of hi-density powerpacks.
In my minds eye I saw Outlets across the galaxy, each selling the best of both Guns and Tuna.
The harsh reality...
I sell out of the same place others live, and any display is limited because I can only fit so many items into a house or, Divinity help me, a tent. If I want to sell it, I have to make it myself, since suppliers charge me the same as everyone else, forcing me to charge more which means I lose customers to the very people I buy from to resell. And its hard enough to keep one vendor on one planet stocked, let alone multiple vendors on multiple planets.
Only the loyalty of my customers fits my dream.
So, did I fail, or did the Merchant profession fail me?

Neither..dreams sometimes take a while to come true. Keep the faith.

Doc, you and others have done a wonderful job, but I've been "keeping the faith" since Beta. Always, I see Combat getting all of the focus, with only the occassional bone thrown to Crafting and non-Combat professions.
DE's got some love, the one true success for non-Combat professions, but Jedi have seen 2 revamps and they are supposed to be the rarest of the rare!
Now its loot seeing a revamp, and combat soon to see a major overhaul. Then it seems the concentration is going to fall on the GCW. It needs it, true, but this is yet one more combat-type revamp.
When will the Crafting professions see their revamp? When will some form of balance occur that gives non-Master Crafters some form of functionality? When will broken systems be fixed, bugs removed, and problems solved in the OTHER half of this game?
If this seems to be a load of negativity its because I can't find any positive left. I haven't heard a breath from the Dev's concerning a Crafting Revamp.
We pay to play this game, too...

Faith isn't something you just lose because it takes a while to reach the promised land.
If you look over our issues list from last year you will see that we did get a couple of things we asked for. (and one huge one we didn't ask for) There is currently a big push to fix a lot of bugs and add a lot of fun features, hopefully that will benefit every profession especially the non combat professions.
Merchant to me is more fun to play today than it was six months ago. There are still issues, there are glaring needs we need to have to make the profession really work like it should bit I feel optimistic about the future.
Elyssa will be a great repressentative for you guys and whatever dev time is available I'm sure she will be effective in making the case for some of it in the merchant profession.
