The players I feel for are the ones who don't spend a lot of time on the forums or check the website regularly. They have nooooooooo idea what's about to give them a rancor body-slam. A friend of mine called up a friend of his that just started playing. He mentioned the revamp, and the guy had no clue. Then his roommate (who also plays) could be heard in the backgroundasking "Combat revamp? What's that?"
Boy are they in for a surprise....

and while I understand not everyone reads the forums,
I really think they need to read the login screen
sheeshI know several folks who have not one idea about what is gonna happen, and a few are jedi!
oh this will be fun *evil grin*

There's something to be said for personal responsibility and news about all of this has been posted on the launchpad for some time.
I'm afraid I just can't have sympathy for the people that have been playing for more than a month and don't know about it.

I am really surprised by the amount of people that don't know what's happening. A number of my guildmates had no clue and a few people I met just yesterday had no idea. This is the first time in ANY game that I get to tell someone about a change...

There is also something to be said about creating something with a definative, well thought out vision. There is also something to be said about informative communication.
Way too many communications on the CU have been vague at best, and who was really prepared for the CU go live date? They gave us what, 5 days notice? Less?

When it comes right down to it, this is not really anydifferent than any other publish for the game.

It's coming whether it's wanted or not.
This one was better tested than most.
On average (given the scope of the changes) it probably won't even be buggier than most other publishes.
In fact, I'm willing to bet that it doesn't even hold the record for live server downtime.
Edit: Nope. We have a new record for live server downtime! (This is why I don't go to Vegas)
