Thread: Vendors in a Private House??

How is it possible to have vendors with items for sale inside of a private house? I thought making a house private with vendors inside wasn't possible?

I did a bazaar/galaxywide vendor search and found some ship components from a single vendor. These were recently listed items (details showed up) and were priced for the public to buy them (ie. not priced at 999999999 for personal storage).

I travel to tatooine and head to the WP. The vendors show up on the overhead map, but when I step in front of the door, it doesn't open!

TEF days are gone, so that's not the reason. I'm certainly not banned from the house because I've never heard of this player/vendor before.

Anyone have any ideas? Bug? Exploit?

There still is a "TEF" timer if you attack another faction, not sure if it's for all combat, but I know attacking the opposite faction will keep you from entering a house for a certain amount of time.

you can be banned from people's shops even if you've never heard of them, although the chances are rare compared to someone you've interacted with. there shouldn't be vendors in private houses, but you never know with those bugs. I would guess that either you or your guild is banned, unless it's some funny tef stuff.

I can't see that it would be related to a ban for myself or guild, as we're pretty small and usually go out of our way to help people.

I was with two other pilots at the time, and they were people I'd just met (both imperial pilots).. I found the vendor on the bazaar and sent them the waypoint. They arrived a few minutes after I did and they couldn't enter either.

The chances of all of us being banned are pretty slim, unless the house/vendor owner is just taking down names of people he sees at starports and going back to his house to put them on his ban list! Stranger things have happened, I guess..

I'm pretty sure the other two guys were combatants.. I was, but hadn't shot any rebel NPCs before heading to the vendor. I don't know if the other two did, but if they had the invisible TEF, it would have worn off during the time we stood around in front of the door.

I had been overt in space earlier, but that's not the same as a ground TEF and it had been at least 30 minutes.

I wrote to the merchant (his name was the same on the door sign, vendor and items), asking if he might know what was wrong. I guess I'll /bug it next time in-game.

I seem to remember buying things off bazaar before, and I would get a waypoint to a vendor like this, instead of getting the item from a bazaar terminal, but how do you do this? How do you set it up like this? And as for the items you bought, are you sure the item(s) were not on a local bazaar terminal? Sorry if these are noob questions, but I am just trying merchant for the first time now, after CU we need more crafters lol.

My sig is Pre CU and therefore I lack the certification to use it.

LilRanger, he hadn't bought the items here yet, just found them on the vendor search and went to buy them.

One more possible problem, I haven't tried this yet so it's just a theory, is that the house is condemned, out of maintence, but the vendors are still active.

Okay, I feel stupid..

I figured out the problem... It must have been a TEF (Why is this still in the game?). I didn't shoot any rebel NPCs, but I think I was shot on my speeder when I was leaving Mos Eisley. I didn't attack back, but being hit was enough to TEF me.

I'm guessing the same happened to the other group members since we were all imperial combatants, and rebel NPCs were in Eisley.

I was able to enter the vendor house this morning, so all is well.

Thanks for the responses

That might be the case.

I know that factories and harvesters will give you a message that it's condemned if you click on it, but I don't know about houses.

Edit: Well, you figured out the problem as I was posting this but it still brings up an interesting issue with the global search and condemned buildings.
