But then it would no longer be Drazner's Merchant Guide, would it?
This is the wrong attitude IMHO. The guide is Draznar's because he does the work to bring all the data together however it serves all of us.
I just named it Draznar's guide, but I do credit the whole forum. When I started it, we could not get stickies. I have left it this way, because that is the way it is known and it gives people a person to contact. Beside it is nice to see other write, "Well, Draznar's Guide says..." Here is what I have for Notepad
NotePad:
The /notepad command allows you to edit a text file from SWG that stores as notes.txt in your profile directory. (For example if your station name is Chatlana it would likely be C:\program files\StarWarsGalaxies\Profiles\Chatlana\notes.txt)
This file is useful for storing bits of information you may need in your adventuring. Making notes about a location. Creating a reminder text that you need to use later.
Some notes about /notepad
I have a system issue that if I alt-tab back and forth too often and too quickly windows has some kind of exception and my USB keyboard dies. In order to prevent this I used to use a blank macro for notes (I think this was Kwee's suggestion).
Now I use /notepad. I have it on a hotkey so I can bring it up while I stock the vendors. With opacity on medium I can /examine a resource or item, and then bring up the notepad on TOP of it and read the details through the notepad while I copy them. I usually make lists of items, quantity, and prices. I can then copy and paste this information into emails easily without leaving SWG. Later when I want to save this information I copy and paste it into Winpad, clear it and off I go.
/notepad does NOT erase, and it appears to save every time you hit ESC so it's also great for quick waypoint notes, commands, names, ect. I actually use the topmost portion of the notpad page for notes and the lower part for the sales info.
/Mailsave saves your mail in individual numbered (datestamped) files in your profile directory in a subdirectory called 'mail'. I spend a lot of time picking information about buyers and sellers out of my sales-emails.I have recently been able to retire my clipboard by using mailsave. I cntl-click on all the newest files and leftclick to OPEN all of them (last time it was 171emails.) I can then quickly read them while offline, and copy/paste any important information into a notepad that I keep open to the side. This is a real timesaver for those of us who keep email lists or who like to keep track of what things were bought and sold for after-the-fact.
The
Some thoughts about /notepad and /mailsave:
I keep /notepad on a hotkey now. When I am stocking merchandise I typically /examine my resource or item, and then hit the hotkey to bring up notepad on top of the examine window. With opacity on 50% I can read the information below the notepad while I copy it. This has allowed me to retire my clipboard, and using copy/paste I can paste this information directly into ingame emails or onto a windows Notepad for pasting into the forums or for my records. A huge timesaver it allows me to note my prices on the fly without alt-tabbing out of SWG..which sometimes makes my system unstable.
/notepad saves your work every time you ESC out of it..making it a very secure place to put any kind of quick notes you need to make. Well deserving of a hotkey.
The usefulness of /mailsave is more dubious, until a better way is found to use this information (*wink Wes*). /Mailsavesaves your email messages into individual numbered(datestamped) files in a subdirectory of your \starwarsgalaxies\profiles directory appropriately called \mail. Mail is seperate for each character. I have found it useful to /mailsave all my new emails, and then delete them in-game as the email system lags me out if I keep more than 100 or so emails on it at a time. I then select all the newest files, and leftclick Open them all. I can read through them, copy/paste the information I want to keep into my Notepad file I keep for this purpose, and delete them as I go. This saved me about 30 minutes last week of lagtime waiting for individual messages to load. The only problem I've found with this is it is important to delete the unimportant messages or rename important ones so they don't get lost in the shuffle with new incoming messages.
That's all for now..any other items you need D?
Another tip for mailsave.. it trips all the Unread messages to Read...
Any blurbs for multisellect? how should I put that in the guide.
PS: I might post the new version today.
The only thing I would put in a bout multiselect is that there is a bug with it right now that if you multiselect and retrieve more than your inventory can handle you could lose the items so be careful!
(Yes this is an item I'm working with the dev team on)
