Go **edit** your holocron.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

I dunno, a week and a half after spending 40k merchant xp I'm almost capped again. Merchant xp seems fine to me /shrug.

My guess is the real complaint is that you cannot grind merchant out in a power-stint in one day. To that I say too bad. But, remember you can be earnining just as much merchant exp when you're off line as when you're on, and while you're sitting there chatting, or out taming rancor.

It's just a differen't style of play.

What does saying this accomplish? Nothing.

Sako

My dream armor would would not only have low encumbrances but it would have extremely high resists to nerf cries.

Please visit my shop 'Sako's meds n resources' which has relocated to -163, -404 in Zero city on talus. (Closest to dearic)

I must be missing something here...I'm new to the Merchant profession, so please be gentle...

I don't seem to get any vendor xps while I'm out doing other things, OR offline. The only way I get xps is if:

1) someone views my vendor

2) I babysit my vendors

If I run around doing anything else, and nobody visits my vendors, I don't get anything.

Am I dreaming??

Nope. From what I have read the only way to get merchant exp is when people view your vendor or when people pay to enter your house. I could be wrong ofcourse.

You are wrong, luckily. You SHOULD get 150 xp / hour / vendor. This works great when the vendors are loaded. I.e when you babysit the vendor or someone else does (or if you get a lot of business).

This was broken in the last publish (before that you didn't need to babysit). Read one of the many other dev ignored threads on the issue.

So as long as I have items on my vendor, I (should) earn Merchant XP?

I noticed I qualified for Novice Merchant BEFORE I hit Business IV and wondered where the Merchant XP had come from...

Make sure you set an auto macro to keep you logged in next to your vendor when your not playing. This will allow you to received the vendor merchant xp. Also set a 1 credit 15min access to your house. If you have spare lots setup 10 small naboos and run through them every 15min if you have a second account. Merchant xp is not like it use to be. Its bugged now cause you have to babysit your vendor in order to receive the points.

And dont get down on holocron merchants. Its not like they chose to get merchant. It's something the game selected. They are trying to do the most difficult thing in the game... Unlocking a FS spot. There is no reason people should make fun of or post childish comments about someone trying to grind a holocron profession. My first account is part merchant part armorsmith so I do lots of selling and use vendors all the time. My second account thats for fighting, hunting and holocron unfortunately got master merchant as a profession to master. He is grinding up slow but I will get there.

From my previous experience with merchant I can tell you its seriously bugged right now. My first character went up much faster than I can dream of right now. Its just going to take some time and I can wait it out. However, it does make the game boring because you are not in much control on how the xp comes in. I have been spending my time crafting items to place on my second characters vendors and running in his houses. Gets very boring.
