With my thoughts focused on my friend Ewach who is a Master Merchant, why not revamp the merchant profession to have the following abilties?:
1) Allow the Merchant professionto gain 2 types of merchants to use.
- Personal vendors: vendors which are in direct control of the Merchant player for self gains from resaled items.
- Designated vendors: vendors which are created andassigned to players by a merchant player which are rented for a negotiated small fee per day, this vendor is not accessible by the merchant player themselves once placedbut are controlled via a set contract/program agreed to by both sides and has a limited contract life before renewal.
2) Grant the merchant profession the ability to map register their vendor/s for a fee which can be used for both personal vendors and designated vendors, again, this is a limited contract life before renewal.
3) Grant the merchant profession the ability to designate a regular small house to be turned into a warehouse which is private to the player who wants one, it only holds raw resources and nothing else for a small renewablefee.
- Privately designated resource warehouse, only the owner has access to the house
- Resource warehouse has doubled the regular holding capacity of a regular house
- Resource warehouse maintenance is based on both a hourly fee anda merchant fee which goes directlyto the player merchant.
- Private warehouse still uses 2 lots like a regular small house.
4) Grant the merchant profession to be able to craft different types of holding bins at master level, similiar to what unlocked containers look like:
- These containers can hold 50 items each but only considered as a one item count.
- The holding bins cannot be sold on the vendors to avoid abuse
- No player can have more than a certain amount of holding bins in their posessions which are registered to the player via the personaldatapad, similiar to storage droids.
- holding bins are classified as: raw resources, component bins, finished goods only
- these bins have a shelf life of a few months each, depending on the resources used to create them of course, similiar to the candles which are on a timer.
Since the things i've suggested here has either a renewal clause or a limitation, i think it will create a need for the merchant profession to be needed otherwise the benefits of the class are gone.
