These will not be in my weekly list, just want your thoughts. There are bigger fish to fry right now.

  • I have a few Medium shops, I would like to see permisions set on the doors in your house, or at lease "sections", so that we can place a vendor in the basement, or behind a door, so that we can have speacial vendors for select people or even space that is "yours", not for the public.

  • I would love to see this... I have 15,000 coppers in the vendor. I have set the price at 4 credits per unit, and a user can buy any anount they want. A screen pops up and a slider lets them take what they want. Basicly allow us to stack ALL like items, and users can buy them by the stack

  • An option on the vendor for you to add users and a discount rate. So if you have a good customer, you can give them 10% discount, without you being there.

Just a few of the things I would like to see the future bring.

Those are all great ideas. They're also things which would really differentiate merchants from people who are just running a shop, which I think is something that needs to be done.

I like those ideas. I would like to be able to set access lists on items in the vendor so only name people can buy them. Also the ability to set different prices for different people. I can dream.

Great ideas. But I'd like to see them come after:

1) the bugfixes
2) Adding more value to the Merchant skill trees

Ideally, the bugfixes will all be in by the end of next month; the skill trees will be upgraded and added to by about three months from now. That would be a good time for them also to implement these kinds of really cool changes to the UI and functionality of vendors. Actually, they could come as part of a general upgrade of the usability of vendors--I'd REALLY like to be able to make changes to prices without having to go through the extensive pain of withdrawing and retrieving each individual item, for example.

I think I made that this was just an idea, not something I was going to add to the "list" clear. Again, I was just tossing out some thoughts.

Changing prices was on my first list.

I'd love to see these ideas. And marqie, in addition to your "shop sections" idea here is my idea (just got it after reading your post so it's in alpha stage ):

  • Allow architects that are part of a player city to create different "shop" floorplans, much like they can make different styles of houses now. The architect must be city-sponsored (something the Mayor can toggle on and off) and must be a master architect.

  • The shops can range from small one-room shacks to large (size of a large house) congregations of vendors.

That's it for now, it still needs a lot of work on planning, but it's just an idea for now.

marqie, I like these ideas a lot and I haveone ofmy own. I would like to be able to automatically ban anyone who attacks an NPC vendor or I would like the vendor to be unattackable. I haven't had it happen to me (yet), but I assume that it is just a matter of time. You can't be in your store(s) all of the time to see who is causing mischief, so having an "auto ban" feature (or unattackable vendor) would be great.

I mostly like the second and third, first would be nice but if I made a list it'd be near the bottom of things I'd like to see. Also realting to #3, would be cool if you had the option to give away free items for purchases as like a bonus to a customer. So I could say give a player a free weapon powerup for every weapon he purchases if he wants. Think this would be hell to code though.

I like the slider for lots of units of a resource. I love th discount rate. That way for my good real life friends I can just give them a 99% or 100% discount on stuff. And also I can give big discounts to people in my guild.

I dont think the permissions for each door is something the devs really need to bother with. If they just let us set a vendor out on the patio it would solve the whole problem. Or maybe a data terminal on the wall instead. I am not bugged by letting people walk around the house. Thats the fun of it, having new people see your pad and say WOW nice stuff.

I would love to see a locked/unlocked permssion for each door. I think an indvidual access list may be a bit too much.. but you could give someoneone permission to enter the house in general wich lets them go thry any locked doors. (like a priavet house would have to do) and the unlocked areas are accessible by anyone.

Would be nice to lock my workroom so I dont have people following me and bugging me to make this or that while I am in production mode.. or lock my bedroom door and have my private stuff in there.

Internal door locking would be nice.

I'd also like to be able to buy partial stacks of things on the bazaar and other vendors. I have a lot of trouble deciding what stack size is right to make my goods affordable yet in sufficient quantity.

I have a radical suggestion that would make merchants much more valuable without significantly nerfing other players. I'd like to see us be able to place buy orders on the bazaar which automatically purchase items for us which are listed in our price range. The money can be drawn out of our bank accounts. For example, say I want to purchase up to 750 Carbonate Ore at a price of 4 credits per unit(3000 credits total)in my local area. Right now, I have to go online and dig through the offers to find what I want, and if I'm offline I can't do that. I'd like it if people could look at the bazaar and see my order for 750 Carbonate, and immediately sell their resources to me. Initially buy orders would be expensive to place, but they'd get cheaper as Efficiency goes up. This would make Merchant a lot more attractive to play as a class...

I don't like people's ideas of taking the initial vendor away from artisan's Business line. We don't need improvements by nerfing others, let alone the trouble it would pose to acquiring Novice Merchant if we didn't have vendors in Business. Let them have their clunky, ugly terminals and server bots - those are no threat to me whatsoever.

It would be cool if Merchants got a factional skill or two, something to do with currying favor with the side they support by donating money to get faction points. I know Smuggler already has something like this, but we should get a stronger version because our dealings are legal.

I think planetary listing for vendors should come sooner.

Marqie,

Those are amazing ideas.

I've got one shop open and am looking to expand to more. I would like to see a newsletter or advertisement available to the merchant class. Something beyond the global vendor scene. In theory, they could make an entirely new profession out of advertising. Merchants could pay to have their good advertised.

I think more house controls are a much. It's reasonable to assume that someone should be able to open/close off specific areas to the general public.

I've already started discounts but I have to do it manually. we are able to set ban lists, why not set up discount lists. It would take nothing to add the percentage to an individuals name in the same way we add vendor or administrative access to our houses.

Great job.
