Thread: Building Lots....
Does the Merchant Profession give you more lots to place buildings? I mean, If you consider having a medium house and a few other structures placed around in order to place vendors to sell your craftables....then you would have no lots for harvesters.
Even this....you have a medium house (Which I assume takes 4 lots) then that leaves you with only 6 lots available for harvesters. I mean, what is the point if the Merchant profession cannot place more buildings?
I'm sorry if it seems like ranting, I just have not found the answer to this question yet.
medium house only takes 2 lots (odd eh?)... I would like to see something added maybe at master which would give us 2 lots (strictly speaking... 6 vendors, 1 in each store, 12 lots)... I can live with just 10 though, just sayin it makes sense. (think politician is also likely to get additional lots for city building so this could be something we see whenever cities get put in).
I don't think there is a 1 lot house. Early on I Heard that the small tatooine house floor plan 2 was only 1 lot, but I assume this isn't true or we'd likely see alot more of them out there and we'd know for sure if this is true.
/agree
Master Merchant should give +5 lots, or give +1 for each step in Efficiency and an Additional +1 at Master (although that might be unbalancing... Efficiency 1 gives you that sweet 4Cr savings on the Bazaar).
I also think Architects need more lots, unless they are going to come up with a Mining Profession.
I'd like to see a way to actually buy lots from other players, but that has too many loopholes.
hehe we had 75 lots in beta LOL
10 is good for most, one larger house 4 lots, and 6 harvester, but merchants may want to set up a chain of shops, and still want to do SOME harvesting. I have to shuffle around my lots all the time. I havea RL friend that plays, he gave me 5 of his lots. +5 as a master merchant I think is an great gift for a master class that gets nothing.
I feel bad for the guy that sets down a PA hall (9 lots)
Here is my point since I started this thread.....hehe:
Every single profession has its advantages and disadvantages, but there should be some consideration for those of us that choose to be a crafter. I guess what I mean is this:
Take a Scout. If a Scout wants to also dabble as a Swordsman or a Rifleman wants to also be a Creature Handler there is nothing in the way that truly hampers their ability to do so, but this is not the case for Hybrids in the Crafting field.
If all you wanted to be was a Merchant and you would buy and sell with folks like Architects and Weapons Crafters in order to stock your vendors, then I would say that 10 Lots would be enough to do so...but as the Merchant Profession doesn't have the same rewards as other professions there needs to be something added....LOTS. Part of being a Merchant is to be able to gain wealth and what better way to show that wealth than to be able to afford the expense of a large house along with the large business foot in the Galaxy. I mean if a Master Brawler can gain a certain amount of wealth and be able to own the largest house possible...he would have the available lots to do so without taking an extreme hit within his money making capabilities....a Merchant would not due to the needs of maintaining business.
That's not even considering if an Architect or Armor Crafter wanted to be a hybrid Merchant. This would mean that an Architect could make his own Large House, have 2 shops running in the Entire Galaxy and only be able to place 2 various Harvesters down to gain materials needed to make money.
What I was really thinking was the each Crafting Profession should gain 2 Lots at the Mastery Level with the Merchant gaining 4 at the Mastery Level. No added Lots until the Mastery level is achieved. This would give evey Crafter the ability to advance his personal living quarters as his wealth increases without losing the ability to harvest materials needed to compete in that market.
This would mean that if a person wanted to be a Master Droid Engineer, a Master Architect anda Master Merchant then that said person would have a total of 18 Lots.
This would mean that that person could have a Large House, 4 shops across the Galaxy and 6 various Harvesters.
This would still leave some room for the necessity for a Crafter/Merchant to have to make some type of trade arrangements with otherCrafter/Merchants in order to do large level business.
Also, this synopsis does not even cover the possibility of Factories.
Any thoughts?
