Thread: My Idea for the Economy
We need taxes. There should be property Tax and Sales Tax... This money will be used to hire guards (keep the mean creatures out) and to pay the Doctors and Medics in the "Public" hospital. (spelling)... Now to pay them they should get a flat amount according to their training. For example a Novice Medic working in the hospital should get paid like 50cr/hour. The min they leave this medical area they are paid. However if they are just sitting there doing nothing then they wont get paid. A system should be setup to monitor how often they heal. If they only heal once every hour then they drop down to like 2cr/hour. But if they are extremely useful and healing all the time they get the full 50cr/hr.
Now this funding will come from a Planet Wide account or city depending on if it is a player owned city. If it is a player ran city then you will need officals to run the city (players) and they can set in their area their own property and sales tax. However that player ran city will be charged a Planet Tax set by the ruling faction (Reb/Imp). So a portion of their City Fund will be needed to pay their planet tax depending how much land is withen their limits.
If the city fails to pay well... their city line drops to the amount they can pay and well eventually they may lose the city.
Sale tax should be like I suggested in the other thread. We should also have the ability for Fighter type people to join the "Police" of the city to pertrol/missions to clean the city of mean creatures. So parts of the city could be ran by NPC but a majority will be ran by PC's. Like no NPC will heal in the Medical Center. NPC's will guard parimeter but they will only defend/remove aggressive type creatures unless it is a creature stronger then them then they run away and hide.
I do believe we need taxes though. Cause everyone is putting up houses everywhere and they have a maintance fee but who cares... It isn't helping the running government there for we need property and sales taxes.
Great idea! Then I can stop doing missions, sell my solar generators and go on welfare, supported by your taxes. Just kidding. ![]()
Actually structure maintenance fees probably take into account not just upkeep on a building but also taxes, kick-backs to the local crime lords (like Jabba), business permits etc.
I've read though that there will be some kind of tax system when player cities is activated, but I'm not 100% sure about this.
