I like this idea. It solves the issue of having to name the vendor the same as your shop. It also allows, as you say, for a building to be defined as a shop, and thereby allowing the use of shop only furniture ( which I think is in the pipeline ? )

I read an idea by someone else to allow Merchants to advertise their Shop on the Planetary map rather then the individual Vendors. I kind of like this idea but would like to offer my modified suggestion.

Proposal

  • Merchants can put individual Vendors on the map under various categories (no change).

  • Merchants can put a building they own on the map under a new "Shops" category.

  • This can only be done for buildings thatMerchants designate as a "shop".

  • Tie this in with the other special "shop" features that the devs intend to work into Merchant.

Using this system, anyone with Master Merchant can designate their building as a shop and advertise its presence on the Planetary Map. If this idea is to work, there needs to be some way of ensuring that only Merchants who are actually running a shop can do this. We don't want PA's and general players using it just to advertise where they live.

So, I admit the idea has flaws but in principle I think there is potential in the idea.
