Dupers knew they were going to get caught. They had 2 strategies.


1) Get rid of them ASAP. Many ebay auctions were made with extremely low buy-it-now prices guaranteeing immediate delivery. The dupers made a quick few thousand, and anyone who bought was banned.


2) Launder it. This is where merchants came in. Dupers used TRIAL accounts to house the money. If you tip an LD trial account, you can go over the 50k limit. Then these trial accounts went around and bought out EVERY HIGH END MERCHANT ON EVERY SERVER. The things bought were then placed in houses for the dupers main accounts to pick up later.


Sad thing is, the merchants were banned (as well as the duping accounts and the trial accounts buying out merchants) but the REAL MAIN accounts that picked up all the vender items aren't banned.


This, plus random people who were /tipped cash and didn't have a chance to /tip it to SOE-Collector, is making a disaster of a week.

  • All persons potentially involved in the dupe have been banned or suspended.


  • People who have been banned or suspended are going through the appeals process now.Each case is resolved privately between the customer and customer service.The appeals process will be complete by early next week.


  • Over 75% of the duped credits are being removed from the economy preventing hyper-inflation in the SWG economy.


  • No vendor owners were suspended for purchases made from their vendor with duped credits, only people that had money directly transferred to them were affected.
