Thread: A tale of a salesman, Great tip on selling stuff in the bazzar.
First ill post this little note on how t otake advantage of the Bazzar to maximize visibility.
Buisness II Suposibly this will pace you at the top 100, but there is another way to make sure you stay up there for a longer period. Ok this tip will only work untill its so widly use I dont know if it will matter.
IF your a crafter change the name of the items you make so that when a person does a alphabetical sort your Item will be at the top, use "A" or "AAA" at the begining of the item name, DONT remove the items real name, it will make it easier for the person to identify the item, Speed is the clue, no one want to spend all day looking for what they want nor do they want to try and guess what a item really is. Puting the letter "A" will place you at the top, include the extra 100cr to make it the first item they will see, this works in this game and works in real life the proof is in the phonebook just look up the letter "a".
One last thing Just because your Iem is there on top doesnt mean that they will pay any price, if you need a the money post what you can but after a while you will be selling it for peanuts just to make room for your new items, just look at what the item goes for and set the price the same or lower. lower will get the item sold allot faster but at a loss of profits. If you have been grinding out stuff to get to the next lvl then who cares about the money just dump them all on the market and reap a little cash and extra exp.
I spend one day doing this when I had the resources to keep me going all day, and I couldnt keep the bazzar supplied, but I was able to break even money wise, and continue crafting away.
Hmm...
May I caution some people from using these tips (no offense to you Casmaran
). This is only my opinion, so others may do as they like.
By changing your item names sothat they're sorted to the top using A, *'s, whatever, may be a good idea for selling cheap commodities, but I would caution anyone from doing that for products they are proud of. Once an object is made by a crafter it's name is set in stone (for most items anyway), and no one wants to wear a quality robe that labels them as 'AAA' meat. What I mean is that expensive robe will still have a future value to the buyer; he/she may want to sell it later to someone else and a name like "AAAAAFancy Robe" is probably not desirable by most buyers. Eventually, if everyone starts doing this, it will just turn into a big name war of A's and *'s... In my opinion, I think that it would ruin the bazaar.
In any case, thebazaar isn't a phonebook (sorry not an attack here) because as consumers we can sort and search any way we want. I look by price, and just work from the cheapest item to the most expensive, stopping when I finally find the item I want at the quality I want (Quality being important to me). However, I usually just buy from crafters that I trust, who produce the best stuff, andthat use good names for their items;crafters that keep Star Wars in mind are just as important to me. Everyone has their reasons for playing this game though, so don't get me wrong... I'm just pointing out that each player looks for manythings in items, not just where they're located in the initial Bazaar listing.
Your last idea works well too, but again only for commodities. Keep in mind that you arebuilding a reputation for yourself even as a novice artisan that will carry through to your higher professions. Don't flood the market with reject items, it looks bad, save the bazaar for your best. If you want UXP, you might as well give reject (or grinding) items away to people you cross in the street, instead of filling the bazaar with useless stuff AND have to pay a bazaar fee.
Anyway, those are just my thoughts on the topic. I don't mean any offense to you at all, Casmaran, and I apologize in advance if I did offend you.
This idea does work. Every weapon I make begins with the name of my company, AceCorp. I will say that that combined with quality work means your product does not stay in the bazaar for very long ![]()
Ace,
That's just a question of cause and effect. It's impossible for you to tell whether you're selling your units because of what your company's name is, the fact that you have a company name at all, or because of the quality of your items.I highly doubt those items are being sold because they start with the letter 'A'. I sell my items without any problems, and I put my tag at the end - "CDEF Rifle A|A". But I could be wrong, maybe items do sell like that.
I drop my guns on the bazaar (the metal dl44, fwg5 tuskens and snuby dh17's) and use no special gimmick, all my items have "by Nisi Daca" at the end of them, no special names, no special price techniques, just the max3k i can sell for on the bazaar, ill drop 16 total at a time (4 of each, 2 per city i drop them in) and all 16 will be sold within an hour or 2.
The items are high quality units at a fair price, thats what sells. Provide good stuff at a price peopel will pay and your stuff will move, plain and simple.
And for SWG specifically, I use all kinds of sorts, probably more often than not something other than name (and if name, about 50% of the time, *reverse* name.)
