Thread: A Better Idea for Vendor Fees.

I propose the following:

  1. There should be a sallary/maintenance fee. This value should not be huge 5-10credits / 45 minutes.

  2. A Sales Tax. This should also not be huge... say 2-5%. This should NOT be time based, but at sale based.

  3. A Restocking fee. This should be 20%. This should only apply when items ore REMOVED from the storeroom to a person's inventory. This will NOT apply when a sale fails, but is put right back up for sale. This only apply's when it is removed from the storeroom to inventory.

These should satisfy 2 of your issues you are looking to resolve.

#1 and #2 deal with adding a money sink to merchants, but it leaves it as something a merchant can actually PLAN for.

#3 will handle keeping people from using the vendor as a storage device... or if they insist on doing so they will ahve to pay an arm and a leg.

With #3 there are 2 issues... one easilly solved, one not so easy.

  • There would need to be a way to just give up on an item being sold and Delete it... derectly from the vendor without going through inventory (thus not having to pay the restocking fee... and obviously not being used to store items!!!)

  • There needs to be a way to MOVE vendors and preserve the items on the vendor. We don't want to force the person to pay restocking jsut to move vendors.

I hope that this will be better than the HUGE cost you plan on inflicting to us...

1 and 2 are good, but not 3.

3 stinks, because if something doesn't sell, or I start making items of better quality than what I currently have for sale, I will pull it and destroy it to get rid of the clutter. If I have to pay to do it, I will let it sit and clutter up my vendor, and hence the database.

No Gray - you didn't read close enough.

Grimoire's plan solves everything. He specifically mentions having an option to destroy items directly on the vendor, without removing them.

Q, Holo... please look at this & seriously, seriously consider this proposal. It's clean, it's simple. THe only modifications I would make would be to use a 60 minute timer & instead of 45 minutes.

Sorry, you are right. It would work, but I still don't like 3. If I want something I own back, I should be able to get it without paying for it. It is already mine. Instead, limit the number of items that can be on each vendor. That will help with their database problem...

So in number 3 whats to stop someone from repricing a item at 1 credit canceling auctions then removing the item from the stockroom for free?

Bah Humbug. You are correct.

A workaround is that it remembers what the original price was and uses that for the restocking fee. That does add a row to the DB... BUT, one more row... is less them more ENTRIES is...

Of course another workaround is to have a freind... or second account... BUY the stuff off the vendor... only costing you the sales tax (though it still costs you extra to store your items) and then You buy it back from them :/

But really... we have to do SOMETHING... that /1000/45 is gonna break us.

Only problem is what you are trying to fix is not what the DEV want...

Remove Money - We have had lots of great ideas...but they will not change there minds...so

It must be something else they want...

If they make Merchants unplayable...because you can not afford to play them....?

Maybe they dont want as many merchants...ok....why?

Well they have stated before that there are more crafters than they Planned on ....

They also have NERFED the Melons you start with from 5 to 1 to reduce load on the DataBase...

It not a new idea ...but if you look at what this action will make most players do...quit listing things on vendors to avoid they HIGH charges...the orginal reason of money sink does not hold water...it sinks...so unless the DEV can not see this...they want something different...less vendors and items on the vendors

Great Ideas on your post...

Excellent ideas. I would support the addition ofdelete key for removing old stock without penalty, and a 20% fee for removing stock to inventory. NO problem.

Regarding DB listings, one could add an additionalprovision:

4. Reduce the number of items per vendor to 150 from the present 250.

Thank you for the post, it is thoughtful and constructive.
