I do not understand this profession. Its like I havea bunch of people go in my vendor and I know they did becuase oft hem purchasing items. But maybe 100 Xp will show like that for hours a little bit at a time. then perhaps next day or Hours later A person goes and My Xp jumps up like 12000 Xp. **edit** going on here? I'd rather have a real time indicator of XP i got so i can manage my time better. is thier a way i can fix this? how do i update xp?

The hourly xp is calculated per hour that the vendor exists, but is only paid to you when someone visits the vendor and refreshed the stock view. This rush of xp you are getting is the hourly 150xp per vendor being paid to you because someone went and looked at your vendor.

Well if you are planning your day around Merchant XP you need a hobby or sometlhing.

But to answer your question a while back (3 or 4 months) the devs made a fairly large change to the universe. They altered houses so that the items in side them didn't load until you went in to them. This was a fairly big change as it greatly reduced the load on the server (expecially at start up ) by not loading all these items in your house that no one is looking at yet. The problem is that it didn't load the vendors and they stopped giving xp when they weren't loaded. So the devs "fixed" the vendors so that they figure out how much xp they owe you when they get loaded again and catch it all up at once. This causes the effect your are seeing. When someone goes into your shop your vendor loads and catches up.

You can force it to update any time you want by having your toon or someone elses go into the room where it is and let everything load. You don't even have to view it or anything, just stand there for a second.

It used to be worse. Back when I was going Master we had to have the vendor loaded to get the hourly xp. I stayed logged on sitting in my house for 3 weeks

I've tested it several times..seems to be consistent. If you walk into the room where the vendors are and wait for them to fade into view then check your xp is should be updated. There might be a delay for the interface to update as well and I suppose lag could be a factor as well but the times I have tested it the xp came pretty quickly.

You don't have to do it often, just like once when you log on. It'll update all your xp since the last time it stopped counting.
