Hello all,

My 3rd Cron said Merchant.

My first 2, Armorsmith and Swordsman had great holo grinder FAQs in their respective forums. Do you guys have one?

Thanks!

I don't get this profession? It should just be a part of the artisan stack. I have NOTHING to sell so, how am I supposed to level it?

I am currently running a lottery to give away my prized possesions, the TIE Fighter Pilot gear, but, I have been begging/"advertising" all day at the coronet starport on my server and all I have is 500 XP points!?!?!?!

Can anyone help me out with some info? Is that all there is too it? I set up a house, make it puiblic, set up a vendor and wait until people visit it? THAT is all I can do? Again, I am not an artisan, I have no goods to sell. Is there a way for me to get with good artisan, that people want to buy from and have them sell through me? Is there a way to accelerate the development of Worlds of Warcraft so I don't have to continue thus stupid and wasteful hologrind?

Thanks!

You'll prolly find this board a little less gratious with hologrinds because of statements just like this which happen all too often...

Methods for gaining xp are in the merchant guide at the top of this forum. Merchant is what it sounds like, a person who sells things. If you have nothing to sell, you might want to look into getting into the resource sales business or sell things that you loot with your character or sell harvested goods or better yet, sell goods other's make. Talk to members of your guild who craft and strike up a deal to sell items for them during your period of grinding merchant, which will last about 2 to 3 weeks.

I won't flame you for your statement, there's no point. I'll just make it clear that most of the people who are merchant enjoy being merchant and find their class very useful. If merchant wasn't useful, people would not ask for it to be made part of another class. The merchant class is no more or no less broken than any other class in the game.

Good luck with your grind.

One of our guildmates decided to do Merchant for his quest to become a Jedi (he is on like profession 25 or something now). Practically everyone in the guild had chipped in to donate looted items or crafted items or resources. He is wheeling and dealing in guildchat all day long druming up stuff to put on his vendors.

Yes he complains that it is slow...he also admitted that unlike the other 24 professions he has mastered this one atleast gave him the freedom to go and do whatever else he wanted to do without having to spend all day grinding out XP with button clicks.

Hey I got this link from another thread in this forum. I think it will help a lot if you have some friends to help you grind merchant.

Lottery is a good idea..

150xp per hour per vendor

50xp per browse 15min minimum. (or is it 10?)

50xp per entry fee 15min minimum.

It's basically a "sit and wait" profession.. there's not much "grinding" you can do.

Go up management first to get all your vendors.

While this is going you may want to "grind" out other artisan based professions since you already have the points migrated that way. And if you play one or two of those professions (novel concept I know) you will have something to sell.. Doing this will get you three things done 1) faster merchant as you're selling something 2)Some money coming in 3)another profession out of the way.

Or the easy way out is to sell resources, even grind quality ones.

A faster way to get XP is to set up 10 Small Naboo houses (ones that only take up 1 lot) and put 1 credit access frees on each house. Get some buddies or pay people to run them for you. Or you can start a Merchant City with fellow merchant grinder and run each other's houses. 500xp per every 15min. I've been working on merchant for 2 weeks and 2 days, should be done tomorrow night. Would be done already but my grinding partner hit master earlier than I did and stopped running my houses. I don't know of any way to grind it in under 2 weeks without one other person helping you. But on a side note, I've mastered Artisan and most of TKA while waiting for Merchant.

Have fun, I know I didn't. :-)

Korrack,

I appologize about my disrespectful tone. I was very frustrated and should have waited to cool off before I posted.

My first cron was armorsmith. It was another profession that I had no interest in and cost me alot of money and time. Thinking I was heading into that scenario again was very dis-heartening. I have since learned that all I need to do to master merchant is set my vendors up and time will take care of the rest, regardless of how many visitors I get. I was originally under the imperssion that I got no xp til someone visited the vendor. So I guess I sit back and wait 23 or so days until my next cron.

Peace!

Heres is what i've been saying to myself. The merchant holo is actually a blessing in disguise. Origanlly i did not do holos and mastered my pistoleer profession, then jedi looked more appealing to me, around that time tho i was mastering smuggler and almost done with it. When my holos said scout i said what the hell, no bigge, and amstered that before smuggler. Then i decided i'll go and get some bussiness skills so i can get a vendor for my spices and start a bussines for a while if my holo turns out to be a bad one. I opened my second holo and 2 my surprise it said smuggler, whcih i was almost completed and finished it off in a matter or 2 days. Then i'm like give the next one a try and it said Merchant. So I am really pleased cause in reality this was sorta my template. Also the merchant holo is nothing to grind, all you do is sit back and watch the exp come in without doing anything besides having fun. Go relax and see the tattoine moons, go pvp, or Krayt hunt. In 23 days i'm master merchant with a thriving smuggling bussines, (already started and booming, on gorath located on datooine called Dices and Spices)(will give wp in another post to come) so i kinda am happy with my holo merchant, but i dread the silent holo!!! My 2 cents.
