how do i get my merchants to wear clothing and armor?
what skill is needed for it?

hiring four is needed. once you have that you just drag and drop the clothing, armor and weapons onto the vendor and they will equip them.

But you will never get the items back so make sure its something you can live without

Yeah.. kinda sucks we can't get them back.. I'm spending over a million on tusken outfits for my melee weapon vendor lol will buy a stormtrooper armor for my weapon vendor.. not decided if i want an imperial officer or a rebell armor on the sliced weapons :-)
expensive if i ever need to move the vendors lol

I just got Hiring IV myself after shifting points from Advertising. The thing that kinda annoys me (and that I had forgotten) is that you can't clothe vendors who were created before the patch that allowed vendors to be clothed in the first place! I have hundreds of items on my clothing vendor, and it'd be a *huge* ordeal to replace her just to get a new vendor that can wear clothes. Not *that* big a deal in the grand scheme of things, and she's actually quite nicely dressed, by random chance, but annoying.
