Thread: Just do it...seriously
Personally, I would not use crafting station hoppers are storage. Folks have lost items this way and been told that they're not intended to be storage units.

Factories are more expensive upkeep, but are 100 items/lot.

I don't suggest using the hoppers either. Additionally I think they count against the item limit in your house as well. I know way back last summer they did not, but I think that has changed. Don't hold me to that though. Also, have any other crafters noticed that factory crates are only usable in the hopper on the day you put them in? I find I can't use factory crates after the server refreshes unless I pull them out of the hopper and put them back in.
On a side note, sometimes I feel a bit silly that if find myself playing SWG the way the Dev's intended. What I mean by this is it never occured to me to use a vendor for storage only, after all it's a VENDOR not a storage bin. It never occured to me to take up master merchant just so I could drop it an keep my vendors. It never occured to me to hoard so many resources that it took up all my lots, because I knew the concept in resource shifts was to have a crafting community that was in a constant flux. I have no sympathy for the crafters out there who are crying foul regarding this vendor "nerf." I see this as a balancing of the community. It will be a while before your millions of stacks of high quality resources are depleted and I imagine that by then you will have found a new way to skirt around the edges of the game. There is a limit on storage space for more than just data base concerns. There's a limit to keep players from amassing so many high quality resources that they are always able to make the highest quality weapons/armor/food etc.
Sorry if that turned into a rant.
I don't buy the "there isn't enough storage argument", but the crafting station hopper is not a way to increase storage. Items in the crafting station's hopper count towards the structure's item count and don't add any storage capacity at all.
