I have 2 standing around in my tent for show(decorations) how long will they stay?

I would say they will stay there at least until patch 10 is put in. Then they will most likely fall under the empty vendor rule.

And I think that would be 2 weeks then, but I still dont know if they are gonna *poof* / destroy themselves, or if they will just not show up on maps.

Assuming I understand the proposed changes correctly, your display vendors would self-destruct 2 weeks after the patch goes in. Since empty vendors will supposedly fall off the planetary map the instant they are empty, I'd assume those wouldn't show in the map when servers come up on patch day. Although, if they aren't initialized, they wouldn't be on the map anyways, so that wouldn't really matter.

So, I think it's safe to assume that you have 2 weeks after patch before they go poof.

but, it seems, even uninitialized vendors need maintenance, or they'll deteriorate -- I found this out the hard way. I'm the merchant, and I wanted to confirm with my partner that a vendor's appearance was acceptable, so I dropped it for him to come and see. well, it was a day or two later when I got word from him that it was ok, so I initialized and started loading up. imagine my surprise when I discovered I had to repair a vendor that hadn't even been used yet

i an not loading it up. i just droped the npc and dressed it up. It just stands there and does nothing. it has been there for a week now. it stands stiff similar to a droid chasis. I use it for a maniquin(sp?)
