Thread: Still baffled on item change

Okay now I am still baffled why master merchant will be required to store the most items. I am a Master Artisan, Master Architect and Master Tailor w/ 3004 in Merchant. I make over 520 items, not to include the variation of clothing. yet if I master Merchant I would be required to drop one of those master crafting professions. Not only this but I have almost 4000 items on my vendors, from loot, to tools and cloths, and why give us a schematic that can make 1000 items if we can barely put them on vendor? I mean come on this is the worst thing that the devs could have done, and will hurt those of us who are strictly crafters, because now I have to choose exactly what to do.

If you don't wanna be a merchant, be a crafter and sell to one or more merchant.

Simple, fast, easy.

The 1000 item limit on schematics was a mistake that the Emperor (devs) made a long time ago.He was entertaining the idea of changing it back to a lower number, but early mutterings from the crafting community showed that a revolt could start. After counting the number of crafters, the Emperor decided to back down and preventupsetting the community(Yeah right, he knew we would start a war, or even a strike. Imagine the Empire without arms, armor, droids, meds, food, clothing, etc. etc.).

I was in your same perdicament so I ended up dropping the survey tree of artisan. I rarely made cars anyway so I just decided to remaster merchant. It gives me more benefit anyway.

You're joking right?

As a crafter, I'ld be happy to do a 20% reduction of my retail price for someone that buy 10 times what a regular customer buy.

Well, we all have to do that. It's part of the game. Being limited by skill points forces us all to pick and choose which is the most important to us. You either drop something to get the merchant skills, or you don't, and find another way to sell your wares.

I'm not unsympathetic, it's just that it fits the bill regarding any skill/profession. There's plenty of other skills that I could use that would help greatly, but I had to make sacrifices for other things.

Yeah really annoying that you now actually have to spend Skillpoints to make use of a profession...

How would you feel if there was a bug with Master Tailor that would allow you that after you had mastered the profession you can drop it and still be able to craft everything?

I bet you would be one of the loudest to scream "FIX THIS"

While i loathe and despise exploiting scum, that's not what this person is complaining about... while the limits imposed are generally acceptable to most merchants, some, are much more impacted by this... like tailers.

What would help is to make clothes like composite armour... let you buy the basic piece and set the color yourself... this would save them from stocking 30 identical items in different colors.

this person is not a poacher but is negatively impacted by the changes... I myself am very happy with the changes, but i stock typicallly 80 items per vendor since it's just power.... and i love the ability to have up to 12 vendors now.. saves me buying a new account for shipwright.

Or even better... Clothing customization kits (dye).

You still get to color it yourself but you have to buy something else from a tailor which gives them another source of renewable income.

I've always thought it should work like that for armor and furniture, too. Besides, the armor thing was supposed to be temporary.

Maybe even pets!

However, it needs to work better than the vehicle kits. The colors don't last long enough and they're so weak that they look like a bad spray-paint job.

No no no no please. This has been suggested at random to the tailoring board a few times, and the overwhelming consensus is "hell no" to customers being able to color their own clothing in any way, shape or form.

It's not that we're selfish, it's just the simple matter that it's bad enough clothing doesn't decay properly, but turning over the aspect of coloring to everyone would push us even further into the "not really needed" category.

Yes, it's a lot of work. But most of us would rather continue to work hard, than cut our jobs down further. We'll deal with the limits, just like all other crafters.

Slightly OT, but I wanted to chime in on that one.
