I placed a vendor in my house, it said it was 1c maintenance. Added my inventory and put in a couple of hundredcredits. Checked the status and hada few days worth of maintenance. Then I logged out for a few hours, get back in and find that the maintenance is almost used up and raised to 111c per half hour.

What's up with that??? This is costing my over 5k per day! None of my vendors charged this much on the other servers. Is it the new patch?

I assume your using a machine vendor.

They do take much more maintenance than npc ones.

They seem to update their cost every x minutes, rather than as soon as you add items, so you need to wait, say 10mins then look again to see the real cost.

This could be the issue. My other vendors were NPCs and this one was a Droid. I'll place a NPC tonight and see if there's a difference. Thanks for the info.

Yes, might as well exploit the NPC vendors while you can because they will be just as expensive as the others very soon.

Ok, the NPC vendor is only charging 1c now. So there is a problem with the mechanical vendors and their maintenance. Although 1c per half hour seems a low, the alternative of 5k per day is outrageous and completely unacceptable. Especially while being an architectwith it's really low profit margin. I'd have run missions just to pay to be an architect and sell items on a merchant.

Actually, I'd bet the problem is with the NPC vendors.

Anyone who is like me and only plays every other fay, cannot run a shop with the maintenance level of the terminals. With in one day all my profit levels will be eaten up by maintenance.

Even on top of the nerfs we got hit with, and the general level of the devs ignoring the merchant class completely thus far in its broken state, this is the one HUGE nail in the coffin that I've just been waiting for.

I know full well that the 1 cr. charge by the NPC vendors is a bug, and I know I'm "exploiting" it. And I will continue to do so as long as things remain as they currently stand. When the "fix" for this comes, assuming that the NPC vendors start charging at the rate that droids and terminals do, my shop will immediately be closed. I'll put one empty NPC vendor up and name her "Email-Jakyle For'orders.I'll mark her on the planetary map and have her bark something about the devs breaking the class and only taking orders by e-mail (assuming they ever fix Ad 2.) And my shop will remain closed. There will be no reason for me to have any merchants skills besides Ad 1 through 3, so I can re-use the others after I sell them back.

I have grave doubts that the Devs will even give a moment's consideration to changing the vendor fee structure into something even approaching reasonable levels before they "fix" the 1 cr NPC vendors. I do know that I'm not paying 2K credits a day for a few deeds so that if they don't sell immediately, my profit margin is completely gone.

I hope I'm just a pessimist and the devs prove me wrong. But I strongly see this coming down the pike, and that will be the end of my merchant days in all regards.

Between factories being busted (and still charging) my vendors disappearing and reappearing the last two days and what I had to do to get under the new item caps - I'm very nearly out of business already.

They ever increase NPC rates to that of the droids - I'm done, that's it - there is NO WAY I can run a decent shop. I refuse to run missions nonstop just for the privledge of selling goods at a loss.

If the DE profession is anythig to go by you can almost guarantee the NPC maint will be 'fixed' before any of your 'real' problems get sorted
