The only reason I got Merchant skill at all was so I could race up the Hiring Tree and have an Ithorian in a custom made suit selling my clothing.

So, has the ability to give clothing to NPC vendors (and to have them actually *wear* it) ever worked, or has this been broken from Day 1?

If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointment.

I went down the list recently and tried every NPC race (male when a choice was given).

Wookiees are the only one that worked for me. So you can make a snazzy outfit of Wookiee Sage Hood, Crested Battle Padding, Sigel Waist Wrap, and Patterned Gloves for your NPC wookiee.

Also, all NPC vendors will take items that can be equipped in your hands.Weapons and what not.

I gave my Devorian spice vendor a carbine to make him look a little more menacing. Gave my Unsorted Goods Wookie a fishing pole to hold at first. He took it, but it looked kinda silly so I'm in search of a bowcaster for him now.

On a couple of the NPCs I could tell that had actually equipped the shirt because pieces of it were poking out from underneath the original NPC clothes.

BTW, don't upgrade your stores to a PA Hall. The elevator is still broken and then you get customers stuck in the basement that you have to go down and DeathBlow to get them out.
