I couldn't find main thread with Holocron detailed explain of why now vendor's can't be used in private houses.
Anyway I'll just write how my guild used it (thanks to me as the mind behind it was mine).
My guild wasn't yet officially formed. You know.... There were the guys, there were a structure inside but none were tagged and no PA Hall to place.
We wanted to make all ourself from scratch and so for some weeks we considered ourself as a guild but we weren't recognized from the game.
From the beginning I owned an easily located house. I just declared the house private then added members to let them in.
Inside there was my vendor that was used as an easy exchange hub for items.
We know all each other rather well and so, no money was involved in any exchange.
I've invented a rather nice pricing code to tag items.
All items usually were placed at 1cr each. That means that anyone could take it if he was feeling that that item was of any use for him.
At same time a price of 5cr was for something that 2 people were already accorded for it. (similar to a direct exchange by trade). So that those 2 people could trade without the urge to meet each other at same place, same time.
Me (the owner) just logged as often as I could and took all offers and placed them back on selling at the same price the offer was to maintain the scheme.
This is a tricky (but easy to use) system just to bend SWG to my little community needs (our little guild).
Now this can't be done but we don't need it anyway as we have already a PA.
Anyway is a good example of the need that could arise.
By now I could suggest implementing something like "put a penny, take a penny" chest where you can drop in items. Something like that should have permission etc... so that owner could set up names that can use it....
ciao ciao
