The point is, Merchant + Artisan Nerf = Merchant. It's like adding 0 to anything.

A great description. Though I find the extra vendors a necessity. But efficiency, hiring, and advertisement are a total waste of points.

So does this mean I can put a vendor in a house I dont own now if I am on the vendor list?

Nice list. I agree with most but must respectfully STRONGLY disagree with IIIc (the proposal to make AdvIII advertise the shop and not the vendor).

This change would hurtmerchants like me who sell a variety of goods. I have four registeredvendors in my shop, each of which sells something different. Currently I can register all four under their appropriate categories, and folks browsing those categories can see exactly what I am selling. It brings in a lot of business.

If I was only able to register my whole shop, I'd have to choose which category it went under. So if I chose "food" then the folks looking for furniture would never find it. If I chose "housing" then the Sunburn junkies wouldn't know where to look. Of course we could have the option to register the house under more than one category, but then I'd have to name it something like "Food and Drink, Houses, Factories, Harvesters, Tat Sunburn stocked daily, and furniture showroom." Which of course would mostly disappear off the side of the list and no one would ever see it.

I really don't see why the overhead map is relevant here. I find the listing on the planetary map to be far more useful, and when I'm looking for something specific I go there and make waypoints to visit. I don't go running through the wilderness with the overhead map on hoping to stumble across a registered vendor. And if someone *does* use this tactic, it is easy enough to hold down the CTRL key, flick the mouse wheel, and zoom in the map. Voila, the names are readable now!

What I propose is this: Let merchants change the appearance of the exterior of their house or the house sign. (Heck use this skill to replace one of the many useless ones we get.) Then passers-by can easily identify it as a shop, without having to have the overhead map up. While the vendors themselves retain their handy categorical listing on the planetary map.

What I propose is this: Give the merchants a skill

Here is what I sent.

Kevin,

I hope your week is going well. Here is the list for week 3

There is another issue a foot... I will send you all the details under seprate cover (I need time to complie all the info)

1 - DEFECT - For the 3rd week in a row (With no feedback) FIX THE ISSUE WITH ITEMS STUCK IN THE STOCKROOM. ALSO FIX THE RESOURCE DEFECT ON NPC. A MAJOR PROIRITY!

2 - DEFECT - AD Tree is still full of bugs...

AD I - Works for a few hours, and then just stops. You have to restart the feature.
AD II - Not working at all. There have been some reports of some able to get this to work, only to be shot down by the "obscene" bug, All things are obscene to the filter.
AD III - This also stops working after a few hours, or less. And has to be restarted.
We would also like to see a major change in this option. We think it would be better to move this to the house, So we can feature the shop, when doing this, allow us to select 3 or so options from the list. The reason is, the overhead map is on, the vendors in a house are unreadable because they are stacked on top of each other.

3 - DEFECT - There is a real issue with fees for vendors.

NPC vendors have almost NO fee at all. (Nice, but not right)
Terminals - Bots - Have fees that can be OUT-OF-SITE. Someone who wants to set up a resource, or house shop, and get fees in the area of 15,000 credits a day. Solution - Set a fee (tax) when something is sold, not just sitting there.
Some have learned Bus Line, placed a vendor, and sold back the skill, keeping use of the vendor, and earning the merchant exps. This is an EXPLOIT
Enhancement - Make resources, and like items placed in a vendor at a cost per unit, and a slider to buy it, so we can place 25,000 Taco meats into the vendor @ 3.5 each, and a buyer can but 10 or 10,000.
Enhancement - We want to be able to change the price without having to remove it from the vendor.

4 - Difine how merchant exps works, in detail.

5.- Items in vendor are counting towards the item count in the house. Please see link, I have had people with the issue post, so you all can track down the defect. Some have it some don't it looks like.

Has anyone had this knock off at a time other than server reset?

YES I HAVE!

SO HAS MY MERCHANT FRIENDS!

SO HAVE OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE POSTED ON THIS BOARD!

NEWS FLASH:

I GET PM'S YOU DO NOT SEE OF ISSUES PEOPLE ARE HAVING. JUST BECAUSE IT IS NOT YOUR ISSUE DOES NOT MAKE IT A NON-ISSUE!

I am sorry to those that had to read this, I am just tired of this need to go round with me on every post, It is old and unneeded, I hear what people say. I do not always respond, but I hear. And if this keeps up, I will have to put people on /ignore so I can read the issues from the trolls. Given that many have little to add anyway, other than to stir things up, I will not be missing anything.

Yes I have had mine stop working completely after a few barks and needed to be restarted. I have also walked into shops of other merchants that I know have barks and the barks been working half the day and not the other half so this is an issue that needs to be addressed... I don't want to have to run back to my shop constantly to make sure my barks are still working.

Numtini: Yes, I have. It's almost as if they are good for only a certain number of "barks" before they get too lazy to do it.

Interesting, mine are very consistent, they knock off at server reset and I don't think I've ever seen it any other way. Tho their screaming was somewhat inconsistent --theydidn't do it to everyone, but they kept at it. I don't have all that much experiencewith it, after about a week I realized it was annoying my customers and made the vendorsface the wall all the time so I turned it off.

Does the map listing die at random intervals as well? And does the map die at the same time as the vendors stop barking? (I'll probably give that up at some point because i think the value is minimal, but I do try to keep it going for as long as I still have the skill.)

And feel free to ignore me, I was asking a question. It's how we exchange information. This thread isthe first time I've ever had this discussed as anything than server reset and nobody . I answer a lot of questions here and on other forums. I also keep my helper flag on and I'mone of the leading tailor-merchants on my server and get a lot of questions from fellow businesscreatures.I like to know what's going on. Sheesh.

Sadly Numtini about 90 percent of what you post has nothing to do with anything but contradicting the corespondant. Get over your fetish and post something constructive instead of constantly deriding anything that gets posted of a constructive nature. More people would be interested in listening to what you had to say if it focused on making the class better for everyone and not focusing on just you and your limited experience. You say yourself you turned off the barking.. If you turned it off then no you wouldn't have seen any issues with it. Those of us that use it have seen the issues.. Accept that our experience is just as valid as yours.

1. Marqui that was a little un called for. Yes Numtini has been a pain but I had the very same question that she did when I read it. I am one box from master merchant and have never seen my vendors stop barking until a server reset. Nor have I seen them stop gaining me xp until a server reset. They are FINE minus the other bugs until a server reset. Same goes for the global map. OTHERS MAY HAVE THE PROBLEM, but they are sending PM's instead of creating CONSTRUCTIVE threads to help iron this out.

2. Everyone else, just because you dont like someone you shouldnt go around giving them 1 stars. Rate the post not the person. Bad form.

3. STOP SENDING FREAKEN PMS! If people would stop sending PM's Numtini would have KNOWN that this was an issue other than at server reset. You have an issue, just post the **edit** thing so everyone knows and can comment on it and help iron out the details on WHEN and HOW. Marqui is not your personal inbox to the developers.

4. COMPROMISE! It doesnt have to be black or white. geesh.

And dont even think about calling me a troll cause I have offered several suggestions on fixes to our current skill sets, etc.

I think PM's are fine, many people who are not big board junkies may have an idea, but not want to be subjected to the wrath of the veltures that hover overhead.

So if you want to send me a PM, do so. If I like your idea, I will post it, and take the wrath. At his point, my skin is thick.

I haven't read this whole thread, so maybe this has been suggested.

I agree that there isn't a huge need for the merchant class with private vendors being available in artisan and a lot of the merchant features being buggy or not particularly special.

There have also been a lot of suggestions for a way to use a vendor to fill private orders, like drop off an order that only a specific person can pick up.

A possible way to help solve both problems: put private-order vendor in the artisan tree at business III, and make public vendors available only to merchants. That way all artisans have a way to sell their wares on a vendor (yeah medics and spice makers are a little challenged in this still), you can still gain merchant experience in the artisan line, but only merchants can sell to the general public.
