ABSOLUTELY NOT for us architects! Our housing and installation deeds are the highest costing in the game, averaging roughly from 10k to 100k or so (excluding PA Halls and furniture). Let's say that I kept 10 deeds on my vendor, starting at 10k and ranging up to 100k, totaling 460k worth of merchandise. At 1/000 of the total value every 45 minutes, I would have to pay 460 credits, or, let's say in order to simplify, roughly 10 credits per minute -- thus, 600 per hour and 14,400 credits per day! That is an unbelievable vendor maintenance cost, especially with all the competition now among architects, since there are so many of us, and, unlike weapons and armor,NO decay on houses or installations, thus very few requests for additional housing or installations -- in fact, fewer and fewer as the weeks go bysince everyone has the houses and installations that he or she needs.

In fact, due to the OUTRAGEOUS cost of vendor machines and nonNPC vendors (Business III and IV), last night I created a second character (usingmy second account) to live with my architect and become a Weaponsmith and Merchant so that, as a Merchant,he could set up free (or low-cost)NPC vendors for my architect's deeds.

I keep hearing about people having so much money in this game that they don't know what to do with it. Well, send some my way, please! What with the continual costs ofmaintaininga house, a structure factory, and six medium and/or large harvesters to supply me with the resources I need to build houses and installations, plus the generally low yield (usually less than 50%) of low-grade ore, my most-needed resource, any money I do have dwindles fast.

If all Merchant vendors are charged 1/1000 per 45 minutes, I will definitely NOT place any housing or installation deeds on a vendor and will probably spend most of my time NOT building anything, but instead mining and selling the raw resources on the bazaar.

I vote no for vendors needing matience fees if they go by the total cost of the items on the vendor.

Now if it's just a flat fee kind of per day maybe equivilent too the matience of a small home or less. THAT would be ok...but to base it on total item cost on a vendor would put architects, armorers, and weaponsmith out of business and to just doing personal orders only and never using vendors.

That vendor fee should be fixed number. not anything to do how much/expensive items is in there.

take some high quality composite vendor and weapon wendor. one item alone cost hundred thousands.

Whole point of vendors is to do selling when i'm offline. Start to sound like only way to sell items is to stand on city and yelling offers. That is not even possible to most ppl since they need to be working in rl to get real money.

Some fixed number like harvesters would be a lot better. That way everyone could choose how manyvendor want/can to used and afforded. Maybe some $$ will be left tomerchants pocket toowhich is whole point of merchants anyway.

The proposal presented here by SOE is flawed. There are 36 pages of explanations why. Merchanting is not a get rich quick scheme, and each and every merchant here would have made more money if they devoted their time to doing missions instead of pursuing merchanting. Yes, even the weaponsmiths. Would anyone maintain an npc merchant that charges so much ? I myself would get about 96 points back from the merchant line and just sell on the bazaar the low ticket items I would make. After a time of that sell everything back and just be a mission jockey. If being a mission jockey did not seem rewarding, I would likely just stop playing.

As Merchants we are not so much of a starring role, as a supporting role to the elite combat classes. Please, don't punish us for making the game better. We are CERTAINLY paying our due in harvestors and energy and other maintenance money sinks. Let the people who make the money cover their end. I have 3 accounts and play every moment that is mine to spare. As it is, if I want to buy clothes or a new gun I have to do missions. My costs right now exceed 150k a week in maintenance.

Artisans and merchants are the building block of the communities and associations. Don't shoot your player city project in the foot by causing them to become shuttle destinations to points of interest. Let the cities be a point of interest themselves.

I agree with the commissioncompleatly...

If you have an hourly charge it will put alot of merchants out of business. Hardly any one knows how to find a player vendor and those that do dont want to run to them. They primarly use the bazars in town. If your going to charge hourly you need to make it more worth while to use a vendor thenthe bazar.I think the commission idea is the best though. Id wouldnt complain about 20-25% commission as long as theresno hourly. You would still get your money sink and it would be more realistic. We already pay maintenance on the building after all.

O, And lets just admit it, being a merchant right now just isnt that profitable.

The game need money sink?

You let people get millions from exploit without banning them and now you want to put a money sink on vendors?

The economy IS ruined, but is that 'cause of vendor fees?

Please tell me it's a joke, please...

The method and formula would be crippling !

I personally have business spanning 4 merchant tents and 10 seperate Vendors (9 NPC and 1 Terminal), I was personally unaware that there was a bug surrounding maintenance on NPC vendors,I always check and keep maintenance paid on my vendors for at least 1-2 months.

The total value of items spanning my vendors run into several millions ( I easily stock several hundred items, my architect goods are my most expensive items and sell slowly, my clothing is relatively low value but i stock many more items to give other players a choice so still high total listed value) and the costs would become exorbitant. I agree that maintenance should be payable to all vendors and it should be more expensive for NPC's because they can bark and you can tailor there appearance to some degree, this maintenance can be equated to a basic salary, perhaps they should receive bonuses for sales in the form of a sales tax but this should be a minimal amount at a set percentage, alternatively this could be an imperium wide sales tax.

All of the above costs should be tempered and reduced by the skills obtained by Artisans and Merchants through there skill trees.

Basically what you are proposing is penalising me and any other crafter/merchant who spends the time and patience to craft a wide selection of goods which in total amount to a large number of credits and who then wish to sell them using a vendor.

Dont forget that people that live in player cities can also be subject to city sales tax, along with all the existing maintenance that the crafting classes pay to keep their businesses running this would break many people as already seen throughout this thread. There are other better and easier ways of creating money sinks that effect the whole player base and not just singling out crafters and merchants who run vendors. Fix the bug as you said just dont crucify us in the process.

I would suggest some related things for vendors including capping the value of items put up for sale, items should simply not be posted for 999999999, deals with values in the millions should be made face to face in my opinion. Another thing that needs to be addressed, but is not part of this particular thread is vendors owned by non artisans/merchants who have given up their skills.
