Thread: Proposal for Updating Vendor Interface

1. If you are going to make all containers "transparent", then we need to be able to "hold" special orders for a specific person (able to be removed by the owner of course).

We do not want to frustrate our customers, by having them travel all the way to our vendor, to pick up their special order, and have it already sold (that would completely eliminate the function of the special order bag, which is greatly used by many merchants).

There is 2 solutions to this problem. The first (my favorite)is to make a special order filter on the main vendor menu (with armor, clothing, weapons, misc...) which only lists items that have beenassigned for purchase by a specific person. That person would then come to the vendor, select this filter, and all the items listed for him and only him would be listed. The second option would be to diferenciate the type of container. Perhaps make all the backpacks transparent, and bring back the "cargo pocket" as a non-transparent 20unit container (or create a new "invisible" container specifically for sales. The other option would be to leave it the way it is. I like the first suggustion (special order "holding" for specific person(s) ) the best. This can be done in RL... why not in game?

2. Make use of the filters corectly.

I know clothing, so i willuse an examplefrom that. Wookiee clothing Filter is a very useful concept, but it doesn't work. It is very frustrating for wookiees to sort through hundreds of items they don't need to find the few on our vendors that they can wear (add salt-in-the wound withthe fact that there exhists a filter for just that purpose which hasNEVER worked). Also i've had several customers who bought wookiee clothing and then had to return it since it didn't fit. There are several other usefulfilters who seem to be unimplemented/ broken.

3. Fix the stockroom

As i understand the stockroom is currently suppose to hold items for 30 days. It often delets them after as few as 7. Also i've had several items which i "withdrew sale" on completely poof rather than going to stockroom (i lost nearly 1 mil in inventory from this in about 15 secondsonce... and that was just what i noticed).

4.Vendor Image Design

As far as the comment about "wrinkled vendors" i think a better solution would be to let ID's image design our vendors! That would be a nice busness nitchefor ID's (increasing ID demand), and save HUGE headaches for merchants. Alternatively we could let the merchant ID the vendor at creation. Or both . Since most people have vendors out already that are truely difficult to replace, i'd prefer the Image designer solution.

5. Factory Crates

I agree it would be nice if factory cratted items were listed under the thing in the crate rather than the crate itself.

6. Vendor limits

There needs to be a readout somwhere on the vendors of the total vendor items listed across all vendors (as it relates to the vendor item limits). This will be especially necessary if/ when the items inside packs count against this total (as we cannot access that information readily under the current system).

BTW... thanks for the more reasonable solution to the vendor limits plan

Let me be the first to say these new changes that are happening about vendor limit is all about making more money for the greedy SWG corporation. No one was complaing about the vendor limits and therefore no changes should ofcame about. Bottom line is the greedy SWG corporation figured they could keep the costs down if they didnt have to spend more money on a bigger database. So when they try to tell u that its all for better game play, they are ful of it. ITS ALWAYS ABOUT MONEY!!!!!

Well they aint the Red Cross now are they, ofcourse it is about money. Or did you honestly think they don't want to profit from the game? How sweet.

And go whine about the item caps in another thread, this is for discussion about propsed changes to the interface. Vendor limits are coming wether you like it or not.

There is one more button I'd like to see on the vendor interface for the admin. Rename. I know this is usually approached in the crafting of an item and in some cases in the inventory, however, I'm sure Tailors are not the only profession that require this useful tool. When we modify clothes we are not able to rename them appropriatly to sell them effectively.

While I recognize the need for tailors to name modified clothes: please no. Our guild's shop had a huge problem with people bulk buying our items for resale, so we ended up tagging all items with our guild's abbreviation and price in our shop. If renaming items was possible, we would have no chance of defending against resellers any more.

This seems to be a common mis-conception, allow me to try and clarify.

The stockroom (where items go when the vendor does not sell them within 30 days) only holds items for 7 days. After 7 days, poof, your items are deleted without warning and you are onlynoitified after your items are deleted.

The 30 days, everyone seems to be confused about, is how long your vendor actually has your items listed for sale, then it goes to the stockroom (see above).

I hope this helps

Edit: As of Tuesday 9/7/04 the stockroom time limit will be updated to 30 days.

The only thing I WANT is to be able to place my items on the pages and in the ORDERI want them to be in,,,,likea spreadsheet. I absolutely cannot stand how the vendor interface organizes my items. By the time my lot of items are bought out and there is 1-3 left, I can't place it next to my 2nd lot of items...instead it floats around for the next several months as the new lot gets bought out.

great post. I would like to add another couple of "suggestions"

#1 - Allow items in the stock room to be relisted on ANY vendor in the local area. Moving large amounts of items between vendors is a REAL pain. I'd love to be able to select a group of items, select the vendor to list them on, and then input a price and it lists them all on the vendor i chose and the price i chose. I would "delist" items from one vendor and relist them on another all from the same screen. this would make moving items much easier.

#2 - allow us to specify a "CPU" for an item, a toggle switch so that i can select a group of resources, and tell it to list these for "3" CPU, or what ever. Would make it much much easier to list resources. (and crated items).

#3 Allow us to rename vendors!!!!!... so i dont have to go through the HUGE process of emptying a vendor.. putting up a new vendor with the new name.. and transferring items over... took me 9 days of at least 2 hours a day to transfer 4000 items between 2 houses next to each other..it was insane.

Other than those 3, everything else you've stated is a must have aswell. I REALLY hope we can get some changes like this.

I just sorta skimmed the first and last pages, some of these have be touched on, so let me add my voice.

1. Sort the entire vendor/bazaar list, not just each page individually. This is all the searching functionality I really need.

2. CPU resource pricing: Drop the entireresource cratein the vendorand let buyers choose how much they want to buy, at a set CPU price.

3. Allow manufacturers to place crates on their vendors with a per-item price, and the buyer can select how many of that item they want, and then the vendor sells them a split crate. Single item purchase? Consider that single item split crate "packaging." Having an "Allow crate to be split" toggle would allow for bulk-price sales of resource and factory crates. Requires that factory crates not be in a category of their own.

4. Great idea to have the vendor not show empty categories.

Along with the "resell at same price" option, this would keep me happy... aT least as far as vendors and the bazaar goes

Lots of good ideas in this thread ... I just want to emphasize what a couple of people have already said:

"List resources in vendors as a full stack and let purchaser purchase 1k or 100k stacks according to their needs. (owner of vendor sets cpu prices and lowest increment for sale) immediately a resource vendor goes from 4pages to 50 lines, since stacks no longer need to be split onto the vendor"

" allow us to specify a "CPU" for an item, a toggle switch so that i can select a group of resources, and tell it to list these for "3" CPU, or what ever. Would make it much much easier to list resources. (and crated items)."

YES. I think instead of pricing per line, there should be a place to set a price for all items of that exact type for the vendor (or for all of your vendors.) So you can set a cpu price for a certain type of resource, and if you put more of that exact resource on the vendor, it is priced the same by default. Manufactured items would also benefit - anything from the same schematic (same serial) would get the same price. That would be much better functionality.

1. Sorting needs to be for all pages.Customers should only have to sort once, too.

2. Please let us ID our vendors.

3. Please let us rename our vendors! We can name our pets and droids, why can't we rename our vendors?

4. A daily email instead of fifty million spam emails is much needed. I spend more time deleting spam when I try to manage my merchandise than I do actually playing the game.

5. Take out the Misc and just listall category types directly IF the vendor is stocked with something in the category. Remove any category that is not represented in the vendor. Sort factory crates into the category the contents would apply to.

Haven't found this one yet, and it's a bit late, I realize But still..

How hard can it be to list the default price in the 'sell item' window as the price that was stored with the item in the stockroom... At least that'd make refreshing the sales every month a bit more workable.

If this has already been discussed to death, please refer me to that thread if you could.

Thanks.

It was proposed: "Add Sales Information to aid merchants in managing their vendors."

I like the ideas that were presented and am excited for all players in the merchant profession. I'm wondering if anyone has thought about giving merchants a tool to extract vendor info out of the game... kind oflike the game generatedemail extractdoes now (thesave for later tool). This is not a proposal for a 3rd party "illegal" tool, but a fully legal extract tool. My Pros and Cons are below.

  1. Onemain reason I would like to see something like this is when I am restocking. I do not go through all the emails that I get from sales because it would take way too long. If I had a tool to extract information on all the items on a vendor, then I could put it in an Excel sheet and sort. Thus, letting me see in a quick glance of what I needed to stock instead of going through each page of inventory. It takes a long time to do this and with such a busy RL... well something ends up neglected and it is usually my shop.

  2. I have 2 other co-owners and they help supply merchandise to my vendors. If I could do an extract by vendor, I could send them the inventory list which would give them an exact readout of what is missing from the vendor. They, in return, could craft what is needed and place in my shop for me to stock.

  3. Since there is only an extract being requested here, I cannot think of any drawbacks to havinga toollike this in place.

Thank you so much for listening to my thoughts. I am very happy to hearthe vendors will be more user friendly in the future. I know it will help me out significantly since I keep thousands of items on my 12 vendors.

Play hard and die with honor!

I really hate it wenn i get spammed by "auction unsuccessful" mails.

As someone already suggested one mail per day with all the items listed would be fine.
