And even renting out vendors DOES detract from the profession because it subtracts a NEED for REAL merchants who want to buy your goods and sell them on their vendors. It subtracts from the need for crafters to enter business relationships with us beyond simply renting the vendors.

There is no need for crafters to enter into relationships with resellers. There's not going to be. Most would quit rather than do it. Instead, most of us get enough merchant skills to do what they need. You will not compell people to go through the reseller paradigm. It's just not going to happen much more than it does now.

Numtini is totally right about this. The crafters who want to play "the reseller game" will be merchants. The rest will either take Business III and sell from an ugly box, or stop selling their wares andjust sell resources instead.

I like to look at this from a customer's point of view. Everyone can take this survey on their own.

If we take vendors away from many people who now have them, customers will....

1a.Find as many or more vendors available to find what they want.

1b. Find fewer vendors around.

2a. Have as much or more selection, to shop around and find good quality gear at good prices.

2b. Have fewer choices.

3a. Find as much or more product on the market.

3b. Find less product available.

4a. Find prices that are the same or lower than what they are now.

4b. Find things to be more expensive than ever.

If you answered (a) to any of the questions above, I'd be interested in hearing how you came to this conclusion. Anything else means poorer conditions for players as consumers, and a poorer economy overall.

I'd much rather we Merchants focus on how to improve our profession, rather than nerfing people who have no effect on us. Anyone who wants to be a reseller can buy from any vendor and sell on their own. Nobody is stealing our sales. All the "vendor nerf" cry does is allowus to steal theirs.

Everyone can have 2 pets of their own, 5 droids of their own, 10 lots of their own.... Everyone should get 1 vendor of their owneven if it is clunky and only holds a few items at a time. They will be the "mom and pop" store compared to a true merchant's Emporium. They will be no threat to us.

More and better vendors should be restricted, of course, or should be the product of a professional Hirer. Think of it:We could use our Hiring skills EVERY DAY asbusiness managers for other people. Right now we get to use it 6 times, and then maybe once a month or so if we are active in maintaining our shops. They get their vendor to sell their junk in small quantities, and we get more opportunities to use our skills.

We need to quit fixating on "owningvendors" as our only sense of value, and think of the possibilities of making all our skills worthwhile and which do not demolish the player economy!

So, let me get this straight: To advance my character, I have to give up my current abilities?

Except, ideas, for the fact that you CAN get your mom and pop vendors without buying them from a merchant. Business 3 skill. You buy the skill you get the vendor. Why is that so bad? I don't want to put all vendors in merchant hands. I just don't want people who didn't buy the skill to not have vendors.

And again, why would people need us if they can buy our vendors from us? What do they need us for? Like I said, I'm in this to sell stuff, not to be an employment agent with 6 employees. This doesn't expand or help our profession. It hurts it.

Stopping people who drop the profession fromretaining the abilitiesof a master will kill the profession?

Um... -No.

It willremove your abilityto benefit from 4 masteries while onlyusing up the skill points for 3.

It will annoy you, because it will take awaya freebie you're looking forward to.

It will put the drop back into dropping merchant.

It willturn actually being a merchantinto something useful.

The sky is not falling.

You're simply about to lose a something-for-nothing deal that was never intended anyway.

Ok, so let me get this straight. Merchants don't want crafters to benefit from their skills. Crafters don't want Merchants to benifit from their skills. And everybody else wants to work independently at the same time?

Here's my philosophy. Only Architects should benefit from making large houses. A creature handler has no skills relating to making a house, why should he be able to plant one? Isn't this the whole reason the Devs nerfed the "mining" profession in beta?

I personally would Love to "rent" a house or a vender. I would be happy to be able to run down a city and find a vendor in every house and choose who to buy from. Heck, why not make a "manager" profession to manage all the vendors on a street.

You guys are a bunch of whiners. Get off the boards and go play for once. Have you tried to deal with these teenager punks that don't even know what skill they need to use a fwg5 pistol? and they whine about how they can't sell anything for more than 3k on the bazaar. And you want me to sell my Pet stim packs to them and have them resell it for 20% proffit. Who wants to buy from a merchant with a markup when he can go straight to the source? thats what happens anyway isn't it. In the business world they call this, cutting the middle man. nobody wants to buy for a higher price just to use a vender. And sure as heck don't want to have to sell stuff one by one whenthey only have time to play for 2 hours a day. They wouldrather be making creaturs, getting dna, taming creatures etc... sure, if you want to spend hours on end every day answering tells to whining people that can't just walk into a house and buy a house for 8k go ahead. Fine by me. I for one think you need to quit whining and try and make the game more "fun" for everyone. Now i'm ranting. sorry if I upset you, but take a look around and realize the game is abouthelping the other professions, not degrading them.
