what does quality have to do with shop looks? I could care less if the vendor was the only thing in the guy's house. I just want what he has to sell
That attitude is one of the main issues this game has. Youre not at all thinking about the rest of community. With the statement you just made, you might as well buy from a NPC vendor.
Think about the bigger picture. Merchants plays for people to visit their shops and have people admire the great work theyve put into fully stocked vendors and a beautyfully decorated store. You might not like it, but that is one of the main reasons a lot of merchants play.
I see how it can be frustrating to run around looking for items you need, but that is why we merchants makes ourself known as being wellstocked. That is why we play. To be know to the community for allway (or almost allways) carrying the items they need.
Without this aspect of the game I dont think I would keep interest and a lot of other players like me wouldnt either.
A certain kind of players would leave the game and without those players the playerbase and community would take one step closer to the l337 pownzor spirit that seems to dominate most other MMORPGs.
I love SWG for the very varied gameplay it makes room for and for the diverse playerbase which IMO makes this game quite unique.

I'm one person, interested in a product for ME! Just the same as you. You buy your products cause you need them. I'm sorry, but the waya free market works is self interest. The merchant's self interest and the buyer's self interest working together to lower prices and provide products. What you describe, "thinking of the rest of the community" is a failed economic system called socialism.

Decorating the house adds to the overhead of the product too. The merchant has to factor it in the starting costs of the business.

Quick question on instant delivery.
I'm working towards Master Armorsmitrh, Master W#eaponsmith and Master Merchant so....
As a Rebel how do Iavoid supplying the Imperial lackeys?
I can ban players from my shop but if instant delivery is put in place how can I prevent an Impon another planet from buying and getting deliveryof one of my items?
I would not want to be shot by a weapon I made and sold!

Interesting thought that occured to me recently. In some areas this might increase the number of people who view your shop and decorations, if you are in an out of the way place. If you can see the whole server's wares from a single vendor, there is little reason to not stop by the closest shop when you are out in the field. Think about it, anyone who needs a new crate of Ahrisa in the middle of nowhere on dant doesn't want to have to travel and fly to South Coronet to get the product and continue their grind while losing buff time. They will find the nearest shop to where they are and shop through that store to minimize time. While they may be buying other peoples products - if viewing your shop is so important, you may be surprised on the number of extra views this proposed system will give.

I am partially for this. I believe there should be a gaxaxy wide vender search. The only reason I believe in this is if I am searching for a particular item and go to 20 vendors and all either empty or none there well there is a good 2 hours of my time wasted. I do believe we should have to go to the shop to pick them up though. I honestly don't care what the shop looks like. I look more on what they have to offer and the stats of the item and try to get the best deal possible. The current system is broke and the biggest reason it is due to empty vendors. You should feel lucky we even have offline selling they could do like eq2 does and you have to be in you inn to sell. This means you can't be out hunting or crafting away from your room to make a sell. I do like 1 idea from eq2 and that is the broker. If you want instant delivery there is a charge. but if they did this I would like to see the merchant get the normal xp as well. On the item it would say where the vender is and then you could travel there to save some credits but either way it would be nice for the merchants to get their xp and I think this is 1 of the biggest complaints about this new idea. The 2nd is undercutting. Can really say much I charge what I am happy with and don't care what others sell the same thing for.
