Thread: Merchant Barker Droids on TC
Thta's good news at least... So the spam will not be bad ince the droids eventually power down. ^_^

For the record I answered one of the questions last night. If the droid's power goes below 1% the droid will turn off the ad bark and it must be re-enabled after the droid has been recharged.

Two questions:
Can you have the barking feature turned off and still have the droid give out waypoints?
Assuming the answer to that question is "yes," say I start a droid barking in a city, then I leave the planet--is it that the droid "stops working" completely, or just stops barking? I bascially wanna know if I can leave the planet but at least still hand my waypoint out.
Thanks!
Hmmm, I think we need a "/yell nerf" to accompany this, otherwise it will make things worse rather than better.
I think /yell should act like /burstrun for the mind, you should only be allowed one during a fixed period, say45 seconds. The mind cost being relative to the number of characters you yell (but allowing say 32 free characters topermit short "forming hunting group" type yells).
On the spambot cert, it has to go into Advertising, I would hope either Ad 2 or, and I hesitate to say this, Ad 4. I hesitate at 4 because I currently have cut back my Merchant skills to just Ad 3, so I could Master Rifle alongside WS, but if the spambot is effective, then I would perhaps be prepared to ditch M.Artisan to get it (and feed into the other lines to feel better about my Merchant skills being dropped, but the vendors remaining). But for it to be worthwhile, they must be relatively rare, and that means nerfing /yells and certifying it high enough. Otherwise it will just add to the confusion.
Well I dont' know. If you log out I know he will log out as well eventually but I don't know how long that takes. It is possible that he will store when you travel off planet. I was away from him for more than a couple minutes in my test. Does anyone have any experience with droids like this? I can remnember leaving my droid in my house and goind and doing missions (grouping with them gave me better xp)

This is a little better, at least we won't have the spammer and droid in the same area most of the time.
Waypoint working without spam is good news as well.
Any word on whether the lack of "additional information" as described before is just bugged or omitted on purpose? I was pretty negative about them just making it a simple edit like a description, but I didn't expect them to drop it completely.

Maybe it's possible to have the droids act like mobile signs instead of spamming? That would be less annoying I'm sure and it would be more like an advertisement. If they add a UI to have multiple lines on signs that'd be great too.
Well that goes a long way to prevent them from being a huge problem if only Merchants who currently have Ad IV.
60 seconds is about right I think.
