Thread: SPAM at the starports
I'm going to disagree with most of you here. I think spam yelling at starports, even afk spam yelling, is acceptable. It may be annoying, but it's annoying when I get a telemarkting call at 8:30 at night. That's life, just ignore it and move on.
For the vast majority of players it is the only way they can advertise there wares or their stores. Sure, they can get merchant and register their vendor on the planetary map, but have you looked at the planetary map for Naboo, Tatooine or Corellia. Every category has a couple dozen vendors listed, so that's not really a good way for a new shop to stand out or draw attention. The only way for a new merchant/crafter to get some attention is to spam advertise at crowded places, like starports.
Personally I prefer to advertise on the trade forums, I feel it's far more effective than /yell advertising in-game. But only a small percentage of the players check out the forums, or even know that they exist. So for them in-game advertising ispretty muchtheir only choice.
