I for one think this is a great upcoming patch. Having 1000 items on a vendor is just too much. I think they should also remove vendors from people who got rid of the merchant branches. Why should you be able to have a vendor and not have the skills to have one? Furthermore, dabblers should not have the same amount of items to be sold as a Master Merchant. Why should a Novice Artisan have the same amount of items as a Master Merchant? That's right...they shouldn't. You don't see a Novice Medic giving buffs or a Novice Brawler meditating, so why should a Novice Artisan be able to have the same capability as a Master Merchant? Besides, vendors are not storage locations anyway. Vendors were meant to sell items. For those people that are strictly in the business of selling items, what do you think the Merchant class is for? If your main goal is to sell items, then you should master a profession meant to sell items...maybe the Merchant class? What do you think?

Perhaps the caps should be raised a little bit...but ONLY for Master Merchants.

Hey Budworth, what about us Tailors/Merchants? We make 230 + clothing items. Some of them come in 30 + colors! Would you all like to see an all black fashion SWG galaxy? How bout if I stop making my crates of Tailor Components for Armorsmiths to save space for my clothing? No one really NEEDS armor. Maybe everyone can just wear the clothes that you got when you started? Sounds good to me, how bout you? I've said this all over the board and I'll say it again so that people will listen. If I make one each of my clothing items in 8 colors, that's 1800 + items. Why should I be forced to Master Merchant because I have a schematic heavy profession that comes in lots of colors? And even if I did Master it, 600 items is NOT ENOUGH! I have Management 3 right now, that should be enough to offer the community all the wonders of fashion that I worked and slaved to be able to make, and some crates so that our Armorsmiths can make their stuff too!

And ArthurDent!! Great Post, five stars!

an addendum just for ArthurDent:

guy in suit: Don't forget Rule No1 Mr. Dent! Don't Panic!
AD: Well I would follow rule No1 if I could follow rule No2 and always carry a towel but there are no merchants left to sell me any! So hell yeah I am going to panic!

Seriously tho, fabulous post. 5 stars

Then it seems an emergency situation exists, and that my Merchant (and everyone else's) must visit all their Vendors and get them at or under the limit (110 items listed per Vendor in my case, since my char is a Master Merchant) TONIGHT, since the rule change goes into effect on August 10th.

I wonder if Devs mean midnight August 10th their local time? Where is SOE/SWG based?

I don't believe these changes will be going live on the 10th. As I understand it the Merchant changes are part of publish 10. They went to Test Center with the other publish 10 changes. The 10th will bring mini-publish 9.3 to the live servers, with the disease and poison buffs and cures for docs. Of course, it would help if the devs tried COMMUNICATING with the community to tell us what exactly is going on. I am rapidly losing my patience and get closer to hitting that cancel button with every hour that passes without a post from the devs to address this issue.

Arthur... that made my day I am officially feeling an eensy-weensy bit better about the merchant nerf, though that's probably going to wear off in about five minutes.
