man I feel your pain. I just got merchant in a holo. I had to drop master pistoleer for this crap.

Perfect reason I am glad that it takes weeks to become Master Merchant. Thank you for making it clear that hologrinding is a stupid way to become Jedi and that people who could care less about what professions they are grinding through get what they deserve.

PS. I hope someone gets a holo saying they must master Politician.

Be a real merchant

You get xp for how many people pay your access fee.

You get xp for how many people view your vendors.

Then you get fix xp per active vendors (you can't do anything about this). But the first 2 you can.

If you get 1,000 people to pay your access fee, you get 50k xp. Have them do it for all 10 of your Nabooian houses, and you'll get 500k xp. (You'll only need 405k to master merchant).

Likewise, get 10,000 people to view your vendors and you'll get 500k xp.

If you go the access fee route, "advertise" by paying them to visit your houses. Pay them 1k cred to run through your houses. If you're rich, pay them 10k cred.

If you go the vendors route, have a vendor on each planet major city (theed-naboo, coronet-corellia, anchorhead-bestine, imp outpost-dantooine, etc), "advertise" way-below-cost items (personal harvestors for 1 cr, swoop bike for 1k cred, etc). Obviously, you only want to stock one at a time and keep filling as they sell.

By the same token, join a huge player city and talk to the major about becoming a citizen and set up your shop there. Of course, you'll have to offer legitimate wares.

If you can't be a real merchant, then go up management tree, place 6 vendors and wait a couple of weeks. While you're waiting, go hunt for more holo.

I don't fault anyone for wanting to be a jedi and for following this moronic path they have created to be one. But I do fault people for coming in here and griping at us because they don't like the way our profession works, demanding that we show them a quick way to master our profession and getting indignant if anyone suggests they will just have to do it the same way we did it.

The merchant profession was meant to take time to master. You can do it in a couple of weeks if you do it right and faster if you get poeple to help you. It works ok for those of us who are actually playing the profession. Yes we want more perks too, we want to actually be a bigger part of the player economy and that is what this forum is dedicated to doing. We are also dedicated to helping out fellow merchants. We are NOT dedicated to going out of our way to help people grind for a jedi slot. Some people will help you with that others won't..we have a FAQ at the top of the forum that tells you everything you need to know. Beyond that if someone is willing to spend their time helping you great but they don't have any obligation to do so and coming in and complaining about the profession is counterproductive to you getting help.

boy did my thread get hijacked or what....i think the profession is cool if you ahve stuff to sell....just to be clear I wasnt the one bashing it. I just feel all you guys' pain. I was on a huge roll grinding out professions like mad, hunting like crazy, just racking up money and xp, and then came to a screeching Halt on this profession. I had to master ranger before this and Squad Leader, these are not things you can sit and grind out, you actually have to WORK. ahem 1 beelion survival xp takes TIME. This long debate isnt what i meant for this thread to turn into. But since were on the subject, my new thing is, if your on Radiant and you go in my 3 houses and buy somethign off my vendor for 1 credit (limit 3 per day) your entered in a free holocron drawing which will be done when i hit master merchant.

Houses are on Radiant Server, Dantooine, Section Eight City, located behind the Theatre.

And Gen-Six you are exactly the opposite of the people who get us all riled up. You are having fun with it and working with the system that is in place. We like that. Good luck to you in your quest.

Bitter maybe? Look, i'm a master merchant because I like being a merchant. He likes being a Jedi. Just like you had to grind through Business in the artisan tree, he has to grind through professions. Don't give him crap just because it isn't the profession he chose. He's just playing the game the way it was designed.

I just can't buy into the whole "don't blame the holo-grinders, blame the system" argument.

In every role-playing game venue I've ever played, table-top, LARP, or online, there are always the min-maxers, the hackenslashers, the 'roll-players,' the power-levelers and macro-grinders that think they are the norm and that everyone wants to be "ub3r" at the expense of every other game activity because it's what they want. And they can't see past their own blind-sightedness.

Sure, the jedi-system the devs gave us is dumb. But the players who can't see all the content and community and fun this game can be, because it doesn't provide some sort of '+1 bonus' to some skill or another, are just to be pitied. The system path isdumb, but not as dumb as the players who pursue it.

I actually love the way the system is in place, of coarse I havnt gotten a holo yet. I just have merchent for my droids and I love not doing anything(much) and just moving up the tree slowly. I run 3 vendors My droids, My friends Bio-Engineered items and extreamly high level Artisan Tools 12.27 and up crafting tools. I dont grind merchent I just get it. And it is simple I don't think hologrinders should complain considering they could get somthing else like architecht or droid engineer where they actually have to speand credits to master and tons of work.
