As things stand now, there are probably a lot you could drop out of Merchant and remain viable under the new system. The question is, how long before they limit the ability to search-enable vendors because the database is choked and the amount of info for folks to sort through is overwhelming?

I wouldn't ditch any skills quite yet... but if they decide they aren't going to change come hell or high water, then it may be time to re-evaluate whether you are getting your value for your SP.

Oh yea. Everything should go in. The lack of a real search system is the biggest flaw in this whole idea. They took a very bad category system and made it worse by putting in 1000's of additional items in it.

Id like to see search enable as a master merchant skill, and for the love of yoda this did not make it easier, i was looking for a specific type of metal having my look through 200000 different stacks of non needed materials to find Iron is a waste of time!

I would say remove pricing from the Vendor search. Way to much to ask. Master merchant skill would rock if they made that a part of it.

I made about 30+ sales due to this patch, my shop is on Talus (no one goes there) and in a player city. I just dont see how this could be bad for buisness, if you have good high quality items to sell people will come to your shop.

Merchanting was:

1. Item Quality
2. Price
3. Advertising
4. Location
5. Reputation

If you were only good at one and two (ie. a crafter rather than a merchant), I'm sure you'll love the new system. Oh well, I'll be able to make more under the new system even if it's more shallow and boring.

I just did some more testing... I have to say I am disappointed they let this go to live. Not just because they didn't address the concerns of Merchants, but because the system is thoroughly borked. It is cumbersome, frustrating and broken. After looking through about 100 pages of items, I was able to ascertain that

1) An item I listed on a search enabled vendor does not appear in the search

2) If you want to look for something and are at all concerned about price, you will have to look through the entire category.

Agreed...

...and ifanyone on Kauri wants to see what I'm selling just go to the bazaar, select factory crates and go to pages 1002-1005. You can find most of my food, my powerups, backpacks and even my cratedtorches all for sale in the same catagory.

Heaven forbid the dev's should organize the catagories before this patch went to live.

You can tell KING Pawling the Elitist that Lady Elyssa the Condescending says, "He knows where to find me if he needs me."

Oh, and I think there were some Drall here earlier looking for him...
