Artisan wont change, but they get more vendors, hiring skill, item cap increases the farther up their Elite crafting prof. It sucks to even say that, but we are looking at another year probably before Merchant will get any more attention after this. There are too many professions that havent gotten any attention. Too bad our "attention" was so horribly misguided.
Would give you 5 stars if we still had rating system.
I like that idea and i really hate Merchant more and more. Think i'm gonna drop it soon and only do custom orders in the future.

I'll go ahead and say that I'm not a merchant and have only dabbled in artisan(but I am looking at switching over to the artisan track)so, I might not be coming at this from the right view point.
I wouldn't think you would want to make merchant to 0 SP but, if you did, it should still sit in the same place in the skill tree so people would have to expend the 29 SP just to get to it.
After the 16 SP drop in ID, I could see a similiar 16 SP drop in merchant so that an artisan could master artisan, two elite artisan professions and merchant. That way entertainers wouldn't be the only profession that could have four masters.

I agree with Sporkabob.
Merchant should be granted a 16 less SP just like they did for IDs, after all, merchant is a support profession ATM.

I would be totally opposed to this change, if for no other reason than the negative effects it would have on me.
Currently, I am a Master Doctor/Master Merchant (yes Elyssa, I think I know what the solution is). The only time I use the "doctor" is when I'm buffing a few friends or I need to make them some stims. I don't craft buffpacks (even though I currently have all of the resources to do at LEAST 5000 of them). All of my vendors are resource vendors.
I've worked hard to try to establish myself as a great resource broker, and although I have made some missteps, I think I do alright. Because I don't craft, I couldn't be a merchant in your new system. That would be an absolute shame.

I say make it crafting based, as you go up crafting trees, you gain merchants.

I don't craft either. And I need all 4000 vendor items that are allowed a master merchant in order to run my small business. Merchant should be a viable profession in itself.

Merchant perspective: The new system sucks furry monkey butt. I have a prime location, 320meters out of mining outpost, and I've had to raise the price of my powerups to keep them from selling out every day. I've noticed a large decrease in sales since the update, and I feel the location I have isn't as much of a use any more. (AKA the guy in middle of nowhere in alaska is competing with my shop in downtown new york). And while this may be good for consumers in general, there are still some nasty bugs. Not to mention that almost all of the products I sell are in Factory Crates... Sooo they can't really be found all that easily. (Potential customers have to sort throught the crates of basic camps and muon gold to find my products).
Overall: I'd be happier if they hadn't implemented this system without looking at the results it could have on the economy and fixing the bugs that plague the idea..
*edit*
Not to mention the mislabeling of products (Name of one product sticking to another) and items listed on multiple pages..

I was seeing similar results when I searched the galactic vendor system. The first I noticed was a factory crate listed as A Painting of a Raventhorn Plant, but upon further inspection, the crate said Variation of A Droid Battery. Either the new bazaar has a bug, or someone is scamming unsuspecting customers.

I feel like my skill points are being held captive by the # of items you can store on a vendor. I also have to admit, I enjoy the discount for my harvestors, housing and vendors as a Master Merchant too (no one is mentioning this as a plus for Master, but it is kinda cool).
I craft and basically use some vendors for storing my resources and components - as a Weaponsmith, they are very specific for each item.
However, I'd be all "coke machines" after this change in the game if I had a storage solution. I really don't have but maybe 700 items that are actually for "sale" -I have more than that in storage.
I got a little extra grumpy last night with this new change while at the same timeI got 2 hours worth of emails of all the items dumping off my vendors and into the stockroom....Why do I wanna be a Merchant again? I wanna play!
Gimmie storage and a relist button and I'll be happy w/ the changes and I'll put my skill points into something that will keep me from getting incapped every time a chuba stares at me.

Well I was looking throught, first time I saw it i thought "scam" but then.. it happened on tons of items not by the same guy... So I figure it's a bug
I mean.. who would be stupid enough to name their crate of stim C's "Composite armor botos - White 19"??
